Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. You never lose, my friend. You only lose the moment you think you will. As a matter of fact, you’re always in a winning state. The moment you get up and ignore that snooze button, the moment you hit that road/gym and sweat all the stubbornness inside your head, the moment you shut that noise within that limits you to be what you could possibly be. You are winning in each moment, my friend!

The moment you die from all the regrets and failure that you think you've had, that’s the moment you start to realize what you need to learn. You are winning! Because in that moment you start to ground yourself to the here and now, stepping back to see the entire picture of all there has been, gathering the tools, ready to create a better version of it. You are winning!

Put that in all aspects of life and you'll see the shift of energy within you.

Realize that all experiences without emotional charge become wisdom, an alchemical process called enlightenment. And remember my friend, remember this, “enlightened” is not a person, not even a destination but a momentarily action of love, compassion and kindness inside and outside of us.

After 2 yrs. + 2 doz. Injuries, what a blessing to race again!
I didn’t expect to win, so I’m really 2x as grateful, but for me, the real win was in the experience of a more mindful version of myself. Before, I pushed through difficulties of the course with brute force, without respecting my body. But now, I observed that I listen and honor my body more.

Salamat Aldean and Majo sa last minute invite, buti na lang nagkita sa bundok!

Profound gratitude to my coach, the engineer and architect behind my new biomechanics, Ed Launio of Human Functional Movements. Thank you to the tireless organizers plus the hardworking volunteers of RMR, and the generous owners of the venue boss Job and Anna of Sandugo/Basekamp, for a well-organized event. Thank you also to all the local people who always welcome us and share these wild spaces. Maraming Salamat!

And lastly, 'am grateful to my family, especially to Nadine Tengco, Author and nutrionist to the stars, my idol, best friend thank you for everything!

ELITE SPOTLIGHT: KOI GREY ⛰

TGC100K | Taytay, Rizal

Koi Grey is more than a trail runner.

With more than a decade of experience in adventure racing, mountain expeditions, ultra-distance trail running, FKTs, and long-distance mountain traverses, Koi has built his endurance journey around one thing: exploring what’s possible in the mountains.

His pursuits have taken him across some of the Philippines’ toughest terrain, from self-supported expeditions and route reconnaissance to ultra-distance efforts across the country and Asia-Pacific.

And for those who know the Cordilleras, you may remember his 444KM Cordillera Great Traverse, a massive journey across the mountains that speaks to the kind of endurance and self-reliance Koi brings to the trail.

Recent accomplishments include:
🏔 2nd Overall — A1 Cordillera Mountain Terraces 100 Miles (160K / 10,980m+)
🏔 Ilocos Sur FKT — 48.1K / 4,974m+
🏔 Cordillera Odyssey — 672.9K over 9 days of cycling, trekking & ultra-endurance

Now, he returns to the Cordilleras for another challenge.

100 kilometers. One course. One more opportunity to explore what lies beyond the familiar.

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY.

At 4:44 AM tomorrow, October 1, all orders will return to regular price.

Today is the final day of our Pre-Order Sale — 20% OFF across all versions of our first design, The Ordinals.

From the Basic Tee, Crop Top, to the Razorback Singlet, The Ordinals marks the beginning of AKOKA as a lifestyle brand.

This first design carries the DNA of what AKOKA stands for.

Every logo, symbol, geometry, and element was intentionally incorporated to represent the message, philosophy, and framework behind the brand.

The Ordinals carries the story of AKOKA.

A philosophy.
A framework of being.
A beginning.

And this beginning will remain limited to 108 copies only.

Once we reach 108, The Ordinals will never be reproduced again.

This isn't simply the first piece of clothing we are releasing.

It is the first physical expression of an idea we've been building for years.

AKOKA and Koi Grey are excited to share this story with you soon — not only through what we wear, but through the community we build.

Our first Community Run is coming.

This is where the story begins.

108 only.

Pre-order now.

Cheers to another lap around the sun! ☀️

Thank you for all the birthday greetings. As a gift, please continue reading.

I’ll use this day to finally give birth to a brand that has been fermenting inside my head for the past four years.

So many challenges, obstacles, and unexpected changes in the direction of my life somehow delayed the delivery of this idea. But what surprisingly remained was its core intention, one that somehow continues to become more relevant with time.

I could talk about the intention, the meaning, the logo, and every little detail for hours. We could sit here the entire day explaining why this, why that, and why not this. But we won’t do that today. I don’t want to steal the opportunity for the brand to tell its own story.

For now, I simply want to introduce you to my lifestyle brand, @akoka369

A clothing brand for an active lifestyle, streetwear, and performance.

Presenting our first design, “The Ordinals”, where it all began.

Available in Crop Tee, Razorback Singlet, and T-Shirt, made for long endurance efforts and everything in between.

The first chapter is now open.

CORDILLERA GREAT TRAVERSE

Perhaps one of the biggest “WHAT IFs” in Philippine hiking.

The Cordillera Great Traverse Philippines was envisioned as a grand thru-hiking route across the mountains of Northern Luzon, connecting old trails, remote communities, mountain passes, and some of the Cordillera’s most iconic hiking destinations.

The full route stretched roughly 400+ kilometers, beginning in Conner, Apayao and passing through Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, and eventually finishing in Baguio City. Along the way, it connected trails around mountains such as Pulag, Amuyao, Napulauan, Purgatory, and Ugo.

In 2015, the project became real.

A team of mountaineers, explorers, ultrarunners, environmentalists, and local partners set out to establish the route. Among them was @koigrey , one of the notable names in Philippine mountaineering, who ultimately completed the entire 400+kilometer traverse in 17 days.

But perhaps the bigger dream was what came after: turning it into a permanently established, maintained, and accessible long-distance trail that could stand alongside the great thru-hiking routes of the world.

That vision never quite reached its full potential.

Today, portions of the CGT still live on through existing trails, old GPS tracks, local routes, and new explorations. The landscape continues to change too. Trails disappear, communities evolve, and some old paths eventually become wider roads.

But looking at the route more than a decade later, the question is still hard to ignore:

WHAT IF?

What if the Philippines had its own great thru-hike through the heart of the Cordilleras? by @koigrey

Hello, internet!

I'm still stoked about this journey.
It was my first time joining the A1 Cordillera Mountain Terraces 100 Miles, and after everything that happened out there, I can finally say this:

This is the hardest 100-mile ultratrail in the Philippines.

Way too much drama to fit in one caption. Check my post on Facebook for the full story. (1/4)

This race also marked my final month representing @thenorthfaceph.

I wanted to give everything I had as a farewell to a brand that has supported me, trusted me, and allowed me to live through countless adventures over the years.

So I did what I know how to do.

I took the gear to the mountains and abused it. (2/4)

A lot of people have been asking: "So, what's the next plan?"

To be honest, I don't have an answer yet. I'm still evaluating possible partnerships. There are already brands reaching out, and I'm grateful for that.

But you know me, I always ask myself:

Why should I?
What can I offer?
Do I actually believe in what I'm representing?

I'm not really an influencer. I'm not the guy who can convincingly promote something just because I was given a contract. And I'm not the most effective content creator either.

If I don't use it, trust it, and believe in it, then why should I tell you to buy it? (3/4)

What I can do is much simpler. I live the essence of adventure.

I take my equipment into places where equipment gets tested — not in a studio, but in mountains, forests, rivers, terraces, storms, mud, darkness, and hundreds of kilometers of suffering.

I abuse my gear. I break things. I wear things until they have stories of their own.

If a brand wants someone who will genuinely put their products through the environments they were built for — I'm the guy who will apply.
No hard sell. Just this: if I believe in your brand, it'll be part of the places where that belief is built. On the mountains. In the long nights. In the failures. In the finishes.

If you know a brand looking for someone who lives adventure, not just represents it — tell them I'm here.

Love you guys. Onto the next. (4/4) by @koigrey

5 DAYS TO GO.

Why do I keep coming back to Spartan Trail Races?
It’s not just because of the competition.

It’s the community, the people you meet on the trail, the runners you chase, the ones you encourage, and the friendships built somewhere between the climbs and the suffering.

It’s nature, being reminded that every race is also a way of returning to the mountains. Dirt under your feet, weather on your skin, and the terrain constantly asking you to adapt.

It’s the challenge, those moments when your body wants to slow down, but the trail keeps asking you to move forward.
And most of all, it’s personal growth.

Every race gives you another opportunity to learn what you're capable of, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. You leave the trail knowing a little more about yourself than when you started.

That’s why I keep coming back.
Because the trail is not just about who finishes first.

It’s about the journey. The people. The mountains. The struggle. And the person you become along the way.

5 days to go. See you out there.

Use my code SPARTANKOIGREY2026 for 10% OFF your race ticket.
