New moon, new me. 310 lbs deadlift, 100 pounds for each year of long covid. Lifting has been a huge part in my recovery. Building strength slowly has helped me grow the capacity to move and make music again.

Thanks to the community that’s forming around @buffbabybarbell. Health isn’t an individual endeavor, it’s interdependence and collectively made. Thankful for my body/practice and thankful for the ways you’re showing up for you. 🙏🏽

REUNITED! Got to see @intoitoverit for the first time since pandemic. We’ve been friends for nearly 20 years and it was extra special to hear him n the band rip “Intersections” in full. Realizing more and more how precious time with loved ones is.

The following day I got back to Joshua Tree to open up bouldering season. Appreciating the journey Long Covid has been and how friends, the land, and deep practice are taking care of me.

Covid strikes again. I’ve spent the last two holiday seasons in isolation due to Covid and all of 2022 with long term effects of covid. Chronic symptoms have made the mundane to my passions like singing, playing guitar, taking photos, climbing, mutual aid, more challenging than ever and I have new appreciation for moving and practicing however I’m able. I’m learning to breathe again.

This coming year, I’m planning to share more of my work and my journey recovering from Covid. Nothing I do is possible without the amazing support from my greatest teachers: friends, family, music and climbing communities, ancestors (especially reconnecting with Hawaii island), and nature. I am so grateful for this deeper understanding of love and interconnectedness.

Wishing you good health and wholeness in 2023. 🙏🏽🌱✨

Despite long COVID, the first KOJI performance in over two years took place a week ago. Thanks to @broompeople for having me and @adambarabas for capturing the moment. As always, the audience and staff at @houseofindependents in Asbury Park, NJ were amazing.

Look ma, made a record with all my pandemic internet friends! Sunday, Someday is out TODAY!

This KOJI line up only got to play one show together before pandemic hit and instead of all the touring we had planned, we became closer and made a record over Zoom that includes @nervusmusic @pottymouthworld @iamsolsticerey and @fullonmonetxo. Celebrating this community and the ones that held you all pandemic. 🌱💞

“To Carry (On and On)” is a song about my experience as a member of asian diaspora, facing white supremacy in the so-called United States, and the movements to eradicate the conditions that create violence. It came out today.

[TW: white supremacist violence, anti-AAPI racism]

It was heartbreaking to wake up to the news of the anti-asian, anti-sex worker murders in Atlanta. Worse yet, it was so violent to hear the Atlanta Police excuse this act of white supremacy by saying “it was a bad day for him.” Policing and carceral approaches will never be the answer.

In response to this tragedy, proceeds this week from the Sunday, Someday @bandcamp will go towards @RedCanarySong who organize with migrant and Asian sex and massage workers in NYC (Lenapehoking), my home the last several years. Please support folks in your communities doing this work and remember that the path towards #StopAsianHate is only possible though decriminalization, black and indigenous liberation, and disability justice.

On the way to @bledfest for my first show in the US in a long, long time. So happy to be playing music again. Thanks to the UK community for helping spark that fire. I’ll be back on that side of the Atlantic with @nervusmusic and @freshpunks in just a few weeks!
