For many of us, culture was never something we had to think about. It was simply part of everyday life.
The way we greeted elders.
The meals we shared.
The stories our grandparents told.
The celebrations we looked forward to.
The relatives we were expected to know and show up for.
Now, our children are growing up in a different environment. And sometimes, passing these things on takes a little more intention.

Remember that Yorùbá book you saw in the background of my last Reel? 👀 Here’s the story behind it:

Before there was Adesola Series, there was this @koli.olum book 🥹

This is one of the original Yorùbá books I used to read with Desola when she was little, long before I created my own.

I would use whatever I could find, read to her in Yorùbá, repeat words, ask questions, and make the most of the resources available to us.

Those little reading sessions helped inspire what would eventually become Adesola Series. 🥹

And now we have a whole stack of books and learning tools to choose from. 😂😮‍💨
