Remember that Yorùbá book you saw in the background of my last Reel? 👀 Here’s the story behind it:

Before there was Adesola Series, there was this @koli.olum book 🥹

This is one of the original Yorùbá books I used to read with Desola when she was little, long before I created my own.

I would use whatever I could find, read to her in Yorùbá, repeat words, ask questions, and make the most of the resources available to us.

Those little reading sessions helped inspire what would eventually become Adesola Series. 🥹

And now we have a whole stack of books and learning tools to choose from. 😂😮‍💨

Some events you attend… and some events remind you what’s possible. 🥹✨

This one was personal.

Watching @rootsbylhaude and @theoyatocollective create a space where African designers could bring their work directly to the DMV and then watching the DMV SHOW UP, shop, support, and celebrate them was honestly magical.

Because this is the season for Black women to dream BIG, take the risk, and watch those dreams become reality. And it’s on us to show up and support them along the way. ✨

Keep supporting @rootsbylhaude + @theoyatocollective What they’re building is necessary and important.

And yes… your girl secured her bag too. 😂👜

My 1 & 3 year old boys are growing up in Scotland, a country and a culture I never imagined raising children in.

But every day, in small ways, I’m handing them the pieces of home today was through these books 📚 @koli.olum .
