PXU NAEP and KONEKTED invite our students to participate in a Photovoice Project for Indigenous Peoples Day!

Use the power of photography to share your story, celebrate your culture, and highlight the people, places, traditions, and passions that shape who you are. Through photos and creative expression, students will work together to create a visual art piece that honors Indigenous identity, history, and resilience!

Our hearts are full after gathering in such a powerful way through story, connection, art, and community.

Created through a collaboration between Indigenous CC, KONEKTED, and Phoenix Art Museum, this was a shared vision of uplifting Indigenous storytelling, identity, matriarchs, and community in a way that felt intentional.

Deep gratitude to the incredible Cara Romero and her family for sharing Panûpünüwügai (Living Light) and reminding us of the beauty, brilliance, resilience, and multiplicity of Indigenous identity and experience.

Thank you to the team at Phoenix Art Museum for opening space for Indigenous stories to be felt, witnessed, and honored. A huge thank you to @tiffanylippincott and Kristin for your partnership, vision, and support in helping bring this experience to life. To the @sketchclubcafe , thank you for leading creativity in a beautiful way to capture stories.

Thank you to Skoden Coffee and Emerson Fry Bread for nourishing the community, to DJ JMELee for setting the tone and carrying the energy of the evening, and to ARTenders.

Join us for our First Friday Matriarch Mixer experience in collaboration with Phoenix Art Museum to support the closing show for the powerful exhibit by Cara Romero, Panûpünüwügai (Living Light) led by sister Jillian Waln (Sicangu Lakota) owner of Konekted.

We will move through an immersive evening of storytelling and honoring the women who carry our stories, shape our lives, and light our way.

The PXU-NAEP CAREER EXPO has been an amazing event curated by @indigenousskye and this year Konekted is excited to continue the efforts. If you have a student or relative attending PXU, please encourage them to attend on Thursday, April 16th from 4pm-7pm at The Heard. There will be Indigenous professionals and organizations for your student to connect with, professional clothing for them to choose from, and immersive experiences for students to engage in. As owner of Konekted, I was invited to the Earth Day event celebration hosted by Vice President @kamalaharris at the Naval Observatory. At the event, she met many people from across the country and the environmental movement, from philanthropists to native leaders to activists and clean-tech engineers. Although there were mentions of progress toward environmental justice and climate protection, the need for more Black and Indigenous power was obvious. Pilamayaye to Wakinyan and Thorne LaPointe for inviting Konekted to provide media services for the Mni Ki Wakan Summit. This three day summit was filled with information which came from years of environmental studies to understand the watershed of each area. The goal of this summit was to bring partnerships among tribes to fight for the water rights.
