The International Olympic Committee awards its “Olympic Golden Rings” for the best television, film and social media content pertaining to each annual Olympiad.

For Paris 2024, I’ve been awarded a silver medal in “Best Director” for our 6-part doc series “Make or Break”. Making me TECHNICALLY an Olympic medalist 😉 ( @phyliciageorge )

It’s the highest honour of my professional career and an acknowledgment not thought remotely possible when we first began developing it. I hope you’ll go back and watch it again on @cbcgem

19 months of preparation, 3 weeks feet on the ground, countless memories. It’s such a special privilege to be part of this team. A dream come true (again) in a life already blessed.

In a world so silo’d, it’s a remarkable feat to recreate the monoculture of old and share a collective consciousness. The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics did that.

To celebrate human ambition and achievement, country and culture, all in the shadow of Paris incredible history and architecture. I am awe struck. To play a role in helping bring these stories to life back abroad and with our national broadcaster is something I cherish and stand upon proudly. I am fulfilled.

Canada’s greatest summer Olympics, at the greatest summer Olympics to date… Je suis bien dans ma peau.

My 4th trip to the Olympics is wrapped at the 25th Winter Olympic Games. With it wraps my 3 year contract with the CBC Olympics as Creative Lead. We designed, developed and executed thousands of features, told hundreds of athletes stories and hopefully made everyone at home feel like they knew these incredible humans, some of the best of us, better.

It was never easy but it was always worthwhile. It was the honour of a lifetime to ride shotgun with Team Canada on behalf of CBC. There will be decks and presentations and blah blah blah that really flex the measurable success of all the things our team made, but for me what I’ll always consider the true success, will be the trust these athletes gave us.

Trust in not just their celebratory moments but their vulnerable moments. The injuries, the rehabs, the losses and the lows. The quiet moments with themselves and the loud moments with their families. Their hopes and their fears. The trust to tell their stories in a dramatic, meaningful and honest way before they took the largest stage in the world.

Four songwriters. Four iconic albums. Four album covers brought to life, practically, in camera.

The most fun, the most pride directing and writing the cinematic opening for the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and recreating these pieces of Canadian music history from the ground up. I can confirm @feistmusic looked at a thing I made and I’m pretty much ready to retire.

Unbelievably huge thanks to the team. They’re the stars. I said “what if the Muppet Show made “Sleepwalker” by The Wallflowers but CanCon” - and they manifested it into a great little film.

On May 5, @hollyhumberstone put on a secret acoustic performance celebrating her acclaimed new album, Cruel World. With only 50 fans in attendance at the prestigious @revolutionrecording - Production Haus was tapped to capture the performance and have it release it alongside the limited-edition record.

Holly made everything easy, was a delight to collaborate with and capture. She beams, you just a point a camera at her and the job is done. I spent a day driving around all of Toronto, collecting vintage luggage for the set design and Holly ended up taking most of it home, which was nice. Reuse, reduce, recycle.

In all seriousness tho, @camerapointer & @aaronsambeyfilm did an incredible job lighting and staging the space and as always @mitchbarnes_ is the best ronin op in the music space in the country. @hey.hotz masterfully captured the audio in spite of the excited crowd surrounding all the live mics.

The “Live from Toronto” 7-inch is available exclusively in Canada as a limited-edition release.

The CSA’s recently reached out with a killer side quest for me in the post-Olympic period of rot. They wanted a narrative sketch that focused on our current hockey movie renaissance and pay a tribute to Icon Award winner @mikemyers. After watching through his filmography, “Wayne’s World” naturally stuck out - but specifically AS a hockey movie. And Mike Myers conceding the point on national television, I will tell to strangers in bars for my remaining days.

@jessica_capo was the mastermind and she’s responsible for all the pieces coming together. She’s a mentor and big sister, I owe her so much.

@andrewventura & @aaronsambeyfilm are such talents who elevate everything I fumble through. Thanks for being down to make a little movie in my driveway with Canada’s best on little notice. And @ruskaycolour for always fixing our mistakes in the field.

Thanks to @andrewphung for punching up the script and crushing ad-libs, @natspooner5 for being so naturally charismatic (and playing goalie) and @ryan_mcdonell for giving a performance that had our whole crew laughing between every take.

What a weird afternoon to have all these amazing people in my home and garage, playing hockey in my street. Double thanks to Aaron for the amazing BTS photos.

Season 2 of “Making Canada’s Team” is live today and what an absolute honour / thrill it was to write and direct it. A year of prep, production and post finally ready to share. All punctuated with an incredible narration by @itsrickmercer (which is also surreal for me) Our efforts pale in comparison to those of our subjects though. In an increasingly “media trained” word they really, really, really laid themselves bare to me, to our cameras and to the country. I hope and know you’ll fall in love with them and be inspired to follow their final chapter at @milanocortina2026

Monster congratulations to @joshrossmusic & @umusic for cleaning up at the @ccmaofficial last night. Had the wonderful opportunity to direct his video for “SINGLE AGAIN” earlier this year and couldn’t imagine a better time to tell everyone to check it out on YouTube.
