Audrey first. Seymour next.

For Audrey, I wanted to motivate the often exaggerated accent and voice and her obsession with the American dream. So for me she’s a Chinese immigrant trying desperately to assimilate into 1950s America, so her look is her idea of the perfect American woman—heels, handbag, hair, glamour—but it’s all slightly falling apart.

For Seymour, I wanted OUT of the Poindexter shirt-and-bow-tie nerd trope. 😂 I imagined almost everything he owns is an old Mushnik hand me down: oversized trousers, patched turtleneck, worn shoes. Even his apron is too small, like he’s had it since childhood the last time Mushnik cared enough to buy him something new.

And also so many fellas volunteered to be my Seymour reference that… why choose one? 😂 by @kp.price

The official spot for Jenda Studies will be Book Burn Cafe and Social Lounge! Jonny’s mission with BookBurn is to create a safe space for Queer people where we can pregame, read, party, and give opportunities to performers who don’t often get them, that really resonated with me! There are countless performers who deserve the spotlight, and this show is made to give everyone a chance to shine!
