💔 WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET BACK ON TRACK! ♿️

Unfortunately, both of our large printers that we use to make our Toddler Mobility Wheelchairs have broken down. We’re now facing the unexpected cost of repairing or replacing them, and it’s putting our mission on hold.

We currently have a new wheelchair to make for a child who needs it. I just ordered the filament to get started, and then our printers broke down. Talk about a setback! 💔

Our goal is to raise approximately $1,300 to help us replace one of our printers with a high-quality Bambu Lab H-series printer. Getting this printer up and running would help us get back to printing wheelchairs and putting them in the hands of the children who need them. ❤️

Every dollar brings us one step closer to getting back to work. If you can donate, we would be incredibly grateful. If you can’t donate, sharing this post helps more than you know! 🙏

❤️ EVERY DONATION MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

💚 Donate via Venmo:

💚 Donate via Cash App:

To everyone who has donated to Make a Wheelchair, shared our posts, or supported our mission in any way, THANK YOU! You have helped us change lives, one wheelchair at a time, and we can’t express how much that means to us.

We’re not giving up on these kids. We just need a little help getting back on our feet so we can keep moving forward! 💪♿️

Help us get back to making wheelchairs for the kids who need them! Every donation and every share brings us closer to our goal. ❤️

Taylor’s wheelchair is officially underway! 💜💙 Here are a few updates on the build process and some BIG shout-outs!

First and foremost, HUGE shout-out to The Freckled Frog! 🐸❤️ Thank you for supporting this build and helping make Taylor’s wheelchair possible!

The Freckled Frog
10747 Midlothian Turnpike
North Chesterfield, VA 23235
📞 804-379-1200

They specialize in Amish-made poly outdoor furniture, patio umbrellas, gifts, and accessories. Please go show them some love and support the businesses that support what we’re doing!

🔥 HUGE shout-out to Comgrow TPU filament! I have not had ONE issue. Not one failed print. This stuff has been absolutely incredible to work with, and it is officially my go-to TPU from here on out!

Also, a massive THANK YOU to KPD and HyperLok! HyperLok is a high-temperature 3D printing bed adhesive, and it has helped us dial in our adhesion issues and keep these prints running reliably.

And of course, THANK YOU MakeGood for making all of this possible. Without MakeGood, these wheelchairs wouldn’t be happening. ❤️

🛠️ BUILD UPDATES

Taylor’s wheelchair is underway! We’re making great progress, and I’ll continue sharing updates throughout the build.

Kaiden’s wheelchair is DONE! 🎉 The only thing left is printing the two little Bluey characters. Those should be finished within the next day or two!

Hopefully, we’ll be delivering Kaiden’s and James Henry’s chairs this weekend! 🙌

And finally, a BIG HUGE shout-out to Bruce’s Collision in Dillwyn, Virginia! Bruce and Kay were able to acquire us a vehicle, and I seriously owe you guys BIG TIME.

As Bruce said, “This is what friends are for.” ❤️

That’s what having good friends is all about. Love you guys, and whatever you need, you already know who to call.

One print. One part. One chair at a time. 💙

Building Makai’s wheelchair was one of the greatest honors I’ve ever had. This was never just another 3D print. I knew I was building something that would become part of a child’s life and hopefully give Makai and his family more opportunity and independence.

This project touched my heart deeply because we have a special needs daughter. She doesn’t have a mobility problem, and I would never compare our experience to Makai’s family, but having a special needs child gives you a different understanding of the love, patience, planning, and advocacy families put into making sure their children have every opportunity possible.

When I started this journey, I had one 3D printer. While building Makai’s chair, I realized that if I wanted to keep helping children, I needed more equipment. That one printer eventually became five.

Two of my Bambu Lab printers were donated by an individual who believed in what I was doing and has since become a MakeGood Maker himself. Another printer was donated by a medical device company after I helped them clean up one of their devices. Those acts of generosity reminded me that this mission is bigger than me.

Makai’s wheelchair also changed the direction of my life. What started as a project became a mission, and that mission helped lead me into a new career. Monday morning, I begin a new chapter at MatterHackers.

I’ve now completed my second wheelchair. I’m preparing the TPU for my third, and I’ll begin printing it this week. I already have the filament for chairs four and five, so those builds will begin soon as well.

I will forever be grateful to MakeGood for giving me the opportunity to help. I want to continue building these mobility devices for as long as I can, and hopefully someday make an even greater impact — whether that’s becoming part of the MakeGood team or being able to make a substantial financial contribution to help more children.

What started with one printer and one wheelchair changed my life. I’m incredibly grateful for where this journey is taking me, and I’m just getting started. by @kpdprototypedesign

There’s something ridiculously satisfying about this. 😂🔥

I started by showing the print with all of the tree supports still attached so you could see exactly what we’re working with. Then came the fun part—peeling those supports away and watching them come off clean.

And yes, the build plate matters.

I’m using HyperLok from KPD, and once the build plate cools down, the print releases so easily it’s almost like it was never stuck there. But while the plate is hot? This stuff holds on like it means business. 😂

As for getting supports to come off this clean: that starts with calibration.

👉 Calibrate your filament.
👉 Calibrate your machine.
👉 Then dial in your support settings.

The settings I’m showing are a great all-around starting point, but don’t just copy them and expect identical results. Every printer and every filament is different.

Take the time to calibrate, make your adjustments, and find what works best for your setup.

Clean supports. Clean prints. Easy removal. And if you know what we are printing you are probably a pretty cool person! @makegoodnola

HyperLok from KPD. Use as directed.

🎉 A HUGE shoutout to Connor and everyone at Burkeville Body Shop! ❤️♿

Today, I want to recognize an incredible act of generosity.

Connor and Burkeville Body Shop have officially sponsored a mobility wheelchair for a little boy named Gideon. Because of their donation, Gideon will soon have his very own 3D-printed mobility wheelchair, giving him greater freedom, independence, and the ability to explore the world around him.

Thank you for believing in this mission and, more importantly, for believing in these kids.

Thanks to our amazing supporters:

✅ Makai’s wheelchair is complete, and I’ll be delivering it tomorrow, just days after his 2nd birthday on Sunday. Makai has a chromosome disorder that limits his mobility, and I can’t think of a better birthday gift.

✅ We’re actively printing our second and third mobility wheelchairs.

❤️ Our second wheelchair is for Paloma, a sweet little girl whose story I recently shared on Facebook. She had her right leg amputated at the knee, yet she continues to greet the world with an incredible smile.

🎉 Thanks to Connor and Burkeville Body Shop, our third wheelchair will be for Gideon!

We’re also excited to have a donation for our fourth wheelchair for a little boy right here in virginia.

If you’d like to help another child, here are the ways to support this mission:

Enough people have asked, so I figured it’s time to show you instead of just telling you! 😂

Even though the caption explains what to do, I know sometimes it’s easier to actually SEE the process.

🔧 Tonight at 8:30 PM EST, I’ll be going LIVE!

I’ll be explaining, showing, and demonstrating how to calibrate your machine for Top Z Distance and why getting this setting right can make a big difference in your prints.

If you’ve been struggling with your top surfaces, gaps, or getting that clean finish you’re looking for, come hang out and let’s get your machine dialed in!

📍 LIVE tonight at 8:30 PM Eastern

And hey, if there’s anyone out there with more knowledge or experience with this than I have who wants to jump on the live with me and help teach everyone, shoot me a DM in the meantime! I’m always happy to learn and bring more knowledge to the community.

Bring your questions — let’s get these machines calibrated! 🖨️🔥
