Hi and welcome to my page! If we haven’t met, I’m Krassimira Belev but people from my past also know me as Mira Koteva.

I also tried a stage name, Nina, about ten years ago. Needless to say, it didn’t stick. I have also accidentally been called Charisma and Krashimaira.

Anyway… you can call me Krassy. My name actually means “make the world beautiful”, so even though people rarely know how to pronounce it, I’ve come to love it.

I’m from Bulgaria but also have Russian and Ukrainian heritage.

I spent most of my adult life living in the UK and US, so I have managed to morph myself into a peculiar creature who somehow fits in all these places.

Having said that, my search for “something that’s missing” is always ongoing.

My first acting classes were when I was 16 and I quickly ditched my dream of becoming a lawyer with a house with a pool for becoming an actress with a house with a pool (pool still pending).

I love acting but I am also a storyteller. Human behaviour is fascinating to me and creating characters is one of my favourite things, but immersing myself in a whole world which depends only on my imagination is something I can’t get enough of.

So now I am a multi-hyphenate: actor, writer, producer. Though truth be told, if acting had worked out at 16, I probably would have stuck to “actress”.

I was an excellent student and very good at following directions, so naturally I was the perfect type to wait for permission. I only decided I didn’t need one six years ago, when I wrote and produced my first short, “Undo”.

The film was shot in four days and the budget was less than $2K. Yes, I know what that sounds like. Somehow it ended up in more than 50 international festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying IN THE PALACE.

Best thing though: on this set I met my husband, father of my daughter and partner in our production company, @firstdraft_production

Together we produced our first feature, “The Therapy”, which I also wrote and starred in. Since then, we’ve continued making our own work while also helping other filmmakers bring theirs to life as executive producers.

In 2025, together with @femalefilmclub and @iffglasgow , we established FFC Bulgari by @krassimirabelev
