This feels incredibly appropriate. Nuar Alsadir is a poet and psychoanalyst who went to clown school to explore what escapes the unconscious when the social mask breaks. Summer took off like a flare in the night sky and already, there have been so many exquisite moments. My home bouquets end up encapsulating the energy I have for each season and this year, the summer feels alive with love, abundance and so much gratitude. I just launched my Substack: a creative space for women, artists, rebels, and visionaries who believe in the power of story to transform the world. ✍🏻☁️✨

This is where I’ll be sharing raw, personal writing about the systems, stories, and identities we’ve built our lives around. I call these elongated essays my “Field Notes.”

I’ll be writing about the rise of AI, the quiet collapse of Hollywood, and what I’ve learned over 17 years as a woman producer in film and television. I’ll also explore the shadow and light of womanhood, and how it moves through our identities, relationships, and the work we create and burn through.

Yes, my Substack is varied. But everything I write carries weight. Each thought sits on the edge of my tongue, waiting to be released, especially now, as the film, television, and commercial industry moves through a global reckoning.

Some of what I share comes from lived experience. Some comes from the quiet, late-night conversations with friends, collaborators, and mentors - the ones people don’t always say out loud, but that I’ve had the privilege of hearing and holding.

This first piece is dedicated to the women in my life - the ones woven into my 3 a.m. thoughts, who make me laugh until I cry, and who remind me what real medicine feels like when stories are shared out loud.

The trees are alive in BC, where the forests still breathe with ancient life. Watching the crows vanish into their depths, even in a small park by a lake, makes my heart ache for what may come through the years of climate change.
