Now you know good and well if you take a walk with your work bestie, all y’all are going do is complain about how the day is going and who is getting on your last nerve…😂🚶‍♀️💨

Listen, I feel you and yes we need safe space to vent, but hear me out.

When we talk about shifting from reactive to proactive leadership, it starts with making promises to yourself and actually keeping them.

This is why I teach leaders the importance of baking a non-negotiable Reset Ritual into their day.

For example, If you say you’re taking a 10 minute walk after you eat your lunch to reset, then actually reset:

1️⃣ Leave the personal phone behind. Put away social media, email, and the group chats. (Keep the emergency line on you if you must, but clear the noise!)

2️⃣ Do not invite a friend. 🛑 Don’t bring a buddy just to pass toxicity back and forth on your break. 🫠

A real 10-minute reset requires quiet:

☀️Disconnect to reconnect with your mind and nervous system.

☀️ Protect your pause so you can regulate before stepping back into the room.

☀️ Honor your own boundaries so you have actual capacity to give.

Your peace is worth 10 quiet minutes. Don’t trade it for a 10-minute vent session. 😮‍💨

Tell the truth in the comments: Are you guilty of taking “venting walks”? 😮‍💨🙋🏽‍♀️ I know I am!

🥹 This is not for everybody… but for those of us who get it, can we talk about how hard it is to accept being celebrated?? 😩

As I approached my 37th birthday I felt the Lord telling me to celebrate. I had a deep yearning to be surrounding by people I love and trust. And while having so many people in my house gave me a smidge 🤏🏽 of anxiety 🙃, I am soo grateful and happy that I did it anyway.

I’ve taken time to process & some things stood out to me…

1) I still don’t like being put in positions to be let down. It’s easier to rely on myself and show up for others than to trust others to show up for me.

2) I have been more concerned about being “too much” for people to digest than just being my full self. 🤦🏽‍♀️ My whole life I was accused of being extra and wanting to be the center of attention and that came along with being called conceited and accused of thinking I’m “better than everybody” so I shrank to make people comfortable.

3) I’ve been a stay at home wife and mom for almost 9 years, somewhere along the way I made myself believe that being home made me a leach or financial burden to my family so I never want too much money being spent on me. 🥺

There’s more, but here is what I learned when I allowed myself to be celebrated by the people who love and support me the most:

1) I am enough just being Kris. And being EXTRA is who I am. Lbs I am larger than life in the way that I think, love and live and that’s what makes me, me! 👑🙂‍↔️

2) Everyone is not for me and I am not for everyone, but I can trust that the ones God truly sent are are safe and I am blessed because I never have to do this life alone. 🥹

3) More than anything: in this era of life, I realize just how fragile and finite time is and I just want to be present and make memories with the ones I love and love me back. ♥️ #morelife

Thank you baby @luckylacy , niece @trinthefrog and sisters @nurseblunt @tammieblunt1 @tiheashabeasley, @mrskiaramonique Ton + Mo for helping make this the best birthday celebration yet! 🥰😘

To every friend & family member who sent messages, showed up, brought gifts, laughed, danced, and hugged me back to life… I am blessed & eternally grateful 🥲 😘 by @krisspeakslife

Did you know that there are 7 core types of rest?

In this season where I’ve not only been called to rest, my body has been sending all sorts of alarms and warning signals that if I don’t listen could force me into it. (Ever been there? I have and it’s not pretty 🤦🏽‍♀️💯)

“Social rest is a state of recharging where you balance or step back from energy-draining relationships and spend time with people who make you feel supported, valued, and restored.”*Google*

Spending time with my sister, @christncurls is a beautiful example of what social rest feels like to me. 🧡🤗

Where/with whom do you find social rest?

Nothing hits quite like that quick look you give your girl when the speaker confirms exactly what you were just talking about at dinner. 👀😩

I knew when my sis @divasafi reached out last month to go with her to see @sarahjakesroberts @womanevolve that going was a must!!

Still, I hesitated for a moment… “with so much going on, can I afford this right now?” Even though I was unsure, I rationalized away the guilt with, “It’s almost my birthday; I can do this for myself.” 🎉🎂

And now I know I couldn’t afford NOT to be there. God has recently impressed upon on me to slow down and live out the second pillar of my own SPREAD framework (Prioritize Rest & Reset) and that’s what I’ve been doing no matter how uncomfortable it feels.

Yesterday felt personal. It was special. It was intentional. And it was necessary. I’m grateful for the freeing conversation and fellowship at dinner followed by the sighs of relief, laughs, cries, and “uh huhs” in the @auditoriumtheatre from all of the women who felt seen, heard, deeply understood, and validated. 🤗🧡

I always say that Rest is a requirement and a right. Rest is resistance. And I now I see that @luvvie was so right when she said that, “Rest [for so many of us] is work.”

With that, I am grateful for new awareness and renewed perspective from @sarahjakesroberts and @tashacobbsleonard that I have ALL AUTHORITY because of the ONE who lives in me and it’s about time I use it!

This past year tried to break me. My faith. My health. My finances. My marriage. My kids. My business. At times I felt lonely, broken, and betrayed. BUT GOD is BIG enough to handle everything that feels too big for me. Not only can He handle it, He HAS and He will CONTINUE to.

I have absolutely nothing to worry about because if GOD be for me…

Well, you know the rest 🧡☀️🥹

Oh P.S. I seen so many queens there that I know who were also being poured into! I pray that you received everything that God had for you!! 🙌🏽@mikasaunders @sharee_thatsme

Q4 We are slowing down long enough to embrace the moment.

One of the easiest and quickest ways to get stuck in cycles of survival is by harping on the past and worrying about the future.

Let’s press the reset button and slow down to appreciate the moments, the people, and the lessons that matter the most.

Dear October… just so you know that this month, everything transforms for our good. 🍂✨

A new month isn’t just a calendar change; it’s an opportunity for a reset. Transformation doesn’t happen by accident, it happens when we get intentional about what we’re letting go of and what we’re making room for.

This month, I am intentional about three things:

1️⃣ RELEASING every self-doubting thought that makes me question my value, every habit that sabotages my peace, and every distraction keeping me from being present with the people who matter most.

2️⃣ WELCOMING aligned opportunities, genuine relationships rooted in safety and reciprocity, and a whole lot of favor and joy.

3️⃣ TRUSTING that I already have everything I need for today, and everything for tomorrow is on its way, right on time, because God is always faithful.

When you renew your mind, you transform your life. Let’s walk into this season with open hands and full expectation.

Type “AMEN” or drop a 🧡 if you’re claiming this declaration for your October! 👇🏽

An “open door policy” without boundaries isn’t accessibility, it’s an open invite to constant distraction. 🚪❌

I was recently talking to an administrator who basically told me, “I could NEVER close my door.”

And while I honor her dedication to her team, I had to share the truth with her:

Having an open door policy doesn’t mean people get unfettered access to you whenever they feel like it.

We teach people how to treat us. When people can walk into your space without notice while you’re mid-task, you aren’t actually being present for them anyway.

It’s like sitting at the dinner table with your phone in your hand. Even if you say you’re listening, typing away while someone talks doesn’t make them feel heard…it makes them feel like an interruption. 📱👀

When you close your door to focus, you give yourself the capacity to give the best version of yourself when that door is open.

Remember these 3 things:

1️⃣ Boundaries are not walls to lock people out. They are guardrails designed to keep everyone safe and create space for real presence.

2️⃣ Leadership is modeling. If your team sees you running on empty and constantly interrupted, they’ll think that’s what success requires.

3️⃣ Hard truth: If you struggle to set boundaries with others, it’s usually because you struggle to keep boundaries with yourself.

Close the door, finish the work, and be 100% present when you open it back up. 🌿

What’s one boundary you need to hold for yourself this week? Drop it below. 👇🏽
