2020-21 Stature Rookie Portrait Variation Purple 1/1 #162 Jake Oettinger

I really liked this card online in picture form. But, once I got it in hand it blew me away. It has a magic mirror quality (everyone knows the best magic mirror was Belle’s - fight me). You can see from the video I took that the entire front shines!

He’s been sitting on my desk for the last week on my phone stand so that I can admire the card while working and on calls. Some people doodle, I stare at cards.

Shout out to @billycelio for agreeing to a branded merch trade. I love me a solid break mat. I’ve had this since last summer and thought since I only have desk pics in my future, now was the perfect time to break it out (see what I did there). Thank you, Billy!! I’ve recently picked up some hockey wax, so I’ll be ripping them on here soon! by @kristinaspc

2020-21 Ice Premieres Black 1/1 #165 Jake Oettinger

(Safely over my desk.)

I love acetate cards. Especially for hockey. The design on this one with the ice cracking on the top third of the card behind Oettinger is subtle with a flawless impact. The gold foil of the UD and product logos, the name of the insert, the boarders, and the 1 of 1 make this card pop! Which isn’t an easy feat on acetate.

The pictures online didn’t do it justice (and mine still don’t). It’s beautiful in hand. So happy to have this one in the PC!

A little background, if you’re interested. Doing research on this card, I found that 2020-21 Ice was a cancelled product; due to the pandemic manufacturing delays/issues felt throughout the Hobby. So, this subset (along with base cards from 2020) was actually found in the 2021-22 Upper Deck Ice Hockey boxes in 2020-21 Bonus Packs. (Cardboard Connection by @kristinaspc

2020-21 Metal Universe Skybox Premium Prospects #PP22 Star Diamonds 1/1 Jake Oettinger

Good news: cards float!

So, a collector’s worst nightmare just happened. I brought this here Oettinger to the lake for a nice pic to show off the blue water and blue sky thinking it would make the platinum pop. And it totally did! …but I should’ve remembered: I’m me.

The wind picked up and it seems this Otter wanted to swim. Flew right out of my hand into the water about six feet off the dock. I went to jump in after it and paused for a millisecond to think about dropping my phone on the dock when i realized this is going to be a penguin plunge — Wisconsin in April, means we’re clocking the water at 42 degrees today (yes, I just looked it up). So as I watched the card float, I called HoJ to bring a kayak oar to me so we could get it out. Because yes, this was now also HIS problem.

After he stopped laughing at me. He said he’d be right down.

I ran to another dock and watched it float in towards me. And after what felt like an eternity, but with wind gusts at 26mph (also looked that up) it was only actually a couple minutes; I fished this Otter out of the water.

HoJ arrived with the oar after I had already secured the card. Still laughing.

He’s drying out right now. *sigh*

I’m retiring from close to water pictures. Obviously. I’ll leave that to the professionals. Here on out, it’s over my desk only. by @kristinaspc

2023-24 Metal Universe Green Precious Metal Gems /10 Jake Oettinger PSA 8

Spring has sprung, bringing up the greens outside. So it’s only fitting that I show off a new Green that I have sitting on my desk too.

I became a Stars fan when we moved to Dallas in 2022. HoJ, Stiff, and I went to the Cowboys home opener (mostly to see Brady play before he actually retired for good). We had already purchased season tickets to the Mavs (the reason we moved to Texas). So, I thought why not go for the trifecta and go see the home opener for the Stars, too. Once I entered that arena, I was hooked. Hockey in person is a different beast. The energy and fandom is unrivaled.

My hockey PC has been slow to launch. And, even slower to make it to IG. I promised I would start sharing what I’ve been building. So this one is kicking it off.

This Otter was gifted to me by the great @jlee_sportscardslive My hockey fandom may only be a few years old, but Jeremy has been an asset of hockey card knowledge to me since early 2020, providing lists of important cards to build out the Hockey category on Card Ladder. Thank you for being a valuable resource time and again, and for sending this one home to me.

I’ve spoken on House of Jordans episodes about how much I love the 1997-98 Metal Universe PMGs with their distinct designs and etching. And, the Jordan PMG Red color matching to the white and red Bulls uniform is such a classic beauty. This PMG Green Oettinger in his green Stars jersey has that same feel. I love this card so much.

And, yes this is the only green I’ve picked up recently. Still searching for that 2020 Prizm Fast Break Neon Green /5 Maxi Kleber to complete my rainbow by @kristinaspc

Jack Hughes wins gold for Team USA.

On Sunday after the win alone, his Young Guns sold over 200 times.

Two hundred.

In one day.

That’s not random.

That’s a moment hitting the hobby in real time.

You watch a goal like that.
You feel it.
You want a piece of it.

So you go buy the card.

But here’s the question you need to ask yourself.

Are you buying the player?
Or are you buying the moment?

Because moments move markets fast.

They spike volume.
They spike comps.
They create urgency.

But not every spike sticks.

This is where you need discipline.

If you already believed in Hughes, that moment reinforces your conviction.

If you didn’t, and you’re chasing because the timeline is loud, that’s a different story.

I love seeing 200 sales in a day.

It means people care.

It means sports still drives cards.

But before you hit buy now, slow down and ask yourself:

Would I want this card if that goal never happened?

That’s how you separate signal from noise.

2017 Select Premier Level #137 Maxi Kleber Rainbow

Kleber was only in the Premier level checklist. To the base there are 14 parallels which includes eight die cuts. Making up this 15 card rainbow.

Base, Silver, Scope, Tri-Color, Zebra, Neon Orange Pulsar /9, Pink /4, Light Blue Die Cut /185, Red Die Cut /135, Purple Die Cut /99, Neon Green Die Cut /65, Tie-Dye Die Cut /25, Gold Die Cut /10, Green Die Cut /5, and the Black Die Cut 1/1. The Pink /4 is listed on the checklist as “Pink Marketing”, could this have been an Industry Summit Pink Gold /4?

Since Kleber wasn’t in 2017 Prizm as a rookie (he doesn’t appear on a Prizm checklist until 2020 - but yall know that from my ongoing rainbow search of the neon green /5 - still searching!!), I would say that this Select Black 1/1 is his best rookie card. I know that some would disagree and look to his Flawless 1/1, which (see a previous post of mine on that rainbow I’ve completed) was only a patch card. Kleber has no RPA, let alone an RPA 1/1.

So, you tell me: what would you consider his best rookie card: Select Black 1/1 or Flawless Patch Platinum 1/1? by @kristinaspc

2022-23 Panini Court Kings box rip.

One of my favorite @paniniamerica products —Due to the emphasis on art throughout the sets.

Swipe for cards.

My favorite insert of this box would have to be the Watercolor. Hit a nice Larry Legend. by @kristinaspc

New LCS alert! @broshowcollectibles (Delavan, Wisconsin)

HoJ and I stopped in the Bro Show shop the other day, met the amazing owners, and bought some wax. Haven’t ripped anything yet, you know I’ll post the results when I finally do.

This was mostly just a stock up. With National breathing down my neck, getting everything set for the show gets me a bit stressed. And, when I get overwhelmed, ripping wax is what brings me back into the present moment. It’s like my favorite mindfulness exercise. Then comes the sorting of the cards. Pure relaxation. At least for me.

See you guys in a month!! by @kristinaspc

2020 Prizm Sensational Signatures Black 1/1 Maxi Kleber

Mavericks season opener is tonight. Looking forward to what the team accomplishes this year. You know HoJ and I will be cheering Luka and Maxi on.

Picked this bad boy up via eBay. I have now completed the Sensational Signatures 2020 Prizm rainbow for Kleber (base, silver, mojo /25, gold /10, green /8, and black 1/1).

Kleber was only in the base set and sensational signatures set in the 2020 Prizm product. I’ve been working on these two rainbows since I picked up the last of the three Base 1/1s in the winter of 2021. It’s been a long road. And, I’m almost at the end of the tunnel.

I’m happy to report that I now have every card of Maxi Kleber from the 2020 Prizm set EXCEPT the base Fast Break neon Green /5 parallel. Someone please help me find this card! by @kristinaspc
