Not your ordinary slab yard. This is one of the world’s premier walnut slab warehouses—representing years of sourcing, milling, and drying some of the finest live edge walnut available. There are only a handful of suppliers operating at this level. I’ve been fortunate to work with several of them for more than a decade, giving me access to an extraordinary selection of rare Claro walnut slabs for my clients’ projects. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at where that journey begins. 📷 @gl_veneer by @kristopher.kirkpatrick
Patio table update: the table is directly exposed to the elements with no table cover or protective structure. We’re seeing some cracking and greying in color as expected. Outdoor furniture will grey/crack over time. We always recommend placing outdoor furniture under a gazebo or similar to protect from the elements, cover while not in use and to refinish once a year. This will slow down the aging process. Then again, if you like rustic then skip these steps and just throw it outside! #patiotable by @kristopher.kirkpatrick
Delivery day! Salvaged 150 year old historic claro walnut tree turned into a live edge kitchen table. This tree was planted by the founder of Chico, CA and Civil War General Bidwell. I think he’d be proud of what we’ve done here today with his sapling. #liveedge #woodtable by @kristopher.kirkpatrick

This was my first monster dining table commission made from reclaimed Bastogne walnut. If you are not a wood person, think of #bastognewalnut as “Gun Stock Caliber” walnut wood. If you are a wood person, it’s a Northern California claro walnut tree from a walnut orchard grafted with English walnut. The end result; better walnuts and stronger, highly figured wood slabs. I’ve made a lot of live edge walnut dining tables for clients in Palm Springs but this one may be my favorite. Would love to know your thoughts. #liveedgediningtable by @kristopher.kirkpatrick
It’s a privilege to work with such extraordinary wood. Some of the walnut slabs that come through my shop are so beautiful they could just as easily be displayed as works of art. I’ve often imagined a gallery filled with a dozen exceptional slabs hanging against white walls, each illuminated by carefully positioned lights. Small brass placards identifying the wood species, its origins, and what makes each piece special. I think people would be blown away by the incredible grain patterns, colors, and character found in these rare pieces of wood. Nature really is the greatest artist. Anyway, here’s another world-class Bastogne walnut slab on its way to becoming a one-of-a-kind dining table! This particular piece will be available exclusively through my partners at @legacyranchinteriors in Texas. If you haven’t already, check out their page and give them a follow. Their collection of Western furniture and interiors is truly exceptional! From extraordinary wood to one-of-a-kind heirlooms. by @kristopher.kirkpatrick
14’ × 55” RESIN RIVER TABLE This one’s not just big, it’s exceptionally thick! I poured this massive tabletop at 3” thick, with the goal of achieving a finished thickness close to 2.5”. Building river tables of this scale presents some unique challenges, but the results are always worth the extra effort. With the resin fully cured, the table has been demolded, rough-shaped, and sanded. Next up is surfacing both sides to achieve a perfectly flat, uniform tabletop. The finished piece will measure approximately 13.5’ long × 52” wide, featuring a white resin river with subtle gold accents—a first for me! One final design decision remains: preserve the natural crotch formations along the edges or remove them for a cleaner profile? What would you do? 👇🏼 by @kristopher.kirkpatrick
The Craft | Bringing Bastogne Walnut to Life! 🔥 One of my favorite moments in the shop is applying the first coat of mustard to an extraordinary walnut slab. This beautiful Bastogne walnut tabletop will be Florida-bound next month! Congratulations to my client Karen on her new home, and a huge THANK YOU for your repeat business! This is Karen’s second custom table commission with me. Her first table was commissioned nearly 10 years ago, and I can still remember building that chunky live-edge redwood table like it was yesterday! Watching the rich chocolate heartwood come to life against the golden sapwood never gets old. Every grain pattern, knot, and natural imperfection adds to the character of a truly one-of-a-kind table. One of my favorite parts of this business is seeing my tables in the beautiful spaces they were built for. I’m currently updating the gallery on my website and would love to feature more of my past commissions! If I’ve built a table for you, I’d love to see how it’s looking in your home or office. Please send me a few photos if you’d like your table featured on my website! And don’t worry about having the perfect photograph. A quick phone picture is perfectly fine. I’ve been experimenting with AI to clean up distracting backgrounds while keeping the furniture itself unchanged. Swipe to see an example! I used AI to edit the view outside the windows in this client’s photograph. The table itself remains unchanged. Looking forward to seeing some familiar tables in their new homes! 🙌🏼 by @kristopher.kirkpatrick
14 feet long. 52 inches wide. White resin river with metallic gold accents. 🔥 This massive custom commission has been quietly coming together in my workshop over the past month. After pouring the white resin river, the table spent several weeks curing before I removed it from the mold and began filling the natural voids with metallic gold epoxy. Next up? Another round of curing, followed by resurfacing the entire tabletop to reveal the finished design. There’s a whole lot of hurry up and wait when it comes to river tables! 😂 They’re incredibly labor-intensive, but the results can be extraordinary. Have a vision for a one-of-a-kind table of your own? I specialize in bringing ambitious projects like this to life. Visit the link in my bio to request a free quote and start your custom commission. What do you think of the white river and gold combination? 👇🏼 by @kristopher.kirkpatrick
Massive Monday! 🌳 Winter is just around the corner, which means this monster Claro walnut log will be turned into dozens of extraordinary slabs before we know it! The anticipation is killing me. These could be some of the nicest slabs I’ve ever laid eyes on. Then again, they might not be. That’s the beauty of working with wood like this. You never really know what’s hiding inside until you crack it open. One thing’s for sure… I’m going to have a helluva time finding out what’s inside this beast! Stay tuned. by @kristopher.kirkpatrick
