A founding force behind Hessle Audio and one of the most influential voices to emerge from the UK underground.

A pioneer of contemporary club music, he has spent the past 20 years moving between different aliases, sounds, and scenes, connecting the blueprint of UK soundsystem culture with the cutting edge of dance music.

His work moves across the wider spectrum of bass, techno, broken beat, and leftfield club music, with a constant focus on experimentation and pushing the possibilities of sound.

We’re beyond excited to welcome Pearson Sound back to PDX for his first solo set in 8 years with support from Gardenparty and Petite Syrah.

Pearson Sound is the alias of UK producer, DJ, and mix engineer David Kennedy, and one of the three founders of Hessle Audio. Rooted in the tradition of UK soundsystem culture, his work moves across bass, techno, and experimental dance music, defined by dark rhythmic grooves, intricate percussion, and a forward thinking approach to production and DJing.

From his early releases inspired by seminal London clubs FWD>> and DMZ to tracks like Alien Mode and Red Sky, Pearson Sound has built a distinctive sound that constantly pushes forward. His self titled 2015 debut LP further explored his experimental side, while his DJ sets continue to connect the dots between his productions, dubplates, edits, and a wide spectrum of contemporary electronic music. taken in Portland, Oregon by @krm.moussa

May 23, Pulse X Be Yourself team up for the first time to bring a proper night of underground dance music and techno. Featuring a very special guest, Berlin techno heavyweight and Berghain resident Fadi Mohem, making his Portland debut. With support from Ana Sia and a special b2b from Moussa and UNDSCLSD.

About Fadi - Early in his career, he received support from Sebastian Szary of Modeselektor and now holds a residency at Berghain. Raised in the outskirts of Berlin in Spandau, Fadi Mohem developed a passion for electronic music in his youth. Exploring the city with a desire for graffiti and urban culture, he made his first steps as a DJ and producer in 2011. His studies in Soundengineering and the subsequent work as a Mix & Recording Engineer granted him a set of technical skills that improved the sound of his own productions. Influenced by early Detroit techno and Berlin dub techno, drum’n’bass and idm. His productions and sets are united by a constant lookout for groove, flow, reduction and repetition and follow the urge to surrender oneself solely to the music. With a quick workflow as a producer, he likes to play out new unreleased tracks in his DJ sets to establish a bridge between the dance floor and studio. Paired with quick and razor sharp multi deck mixing, his DJ sets keep building and building with a forward drive and the goal to create a unifying experience on the dance floor.

Jan 30th - Spend The Night & Be Yourself teaming up to welcome back to PDX a core member of Hessle Audio and a defining voice in UK electronic music: Pangaea (UK / Hessle Audio)

@pangaea_dj has been a defining force in UK electronic music for nearly two decades. As a co-founder of the influential Hessle Audio label alongside Ben UFO and Pearson Sound, he’s continually pushed the boundaries between genres, blending the familiar with the futuristic in both his productions and DJ sets. His 2023 album Changing Channels (Hessle Audio) earned an 8.3 from Pitchfork, praised for its inventive and club-ready sound. A regular at Berghain and fabric, as well as festivals like Dekmantel and Glastonbury, and with a long-running Rinse FM residency, Pangaea continues to craft dynamic, forward-thinking music deeply rooted in the energy of the dancefloor.

More about Aurora Halal
is a producer, DJ and creator of Brooklyn’s influential Mutual Dreaming party series & the Sustain-Release festival. Shadowy and psychedelic, her hardware live & Du sets have a hazy sensuality and metallic dance floor intensity that’s at turns playful, dark, euphoric and emotionally vulnerable. In all her projects she treats dance music as an arena for transformation, and since 2010 her events have been rooted in an underground, DIY approach that pushes forward-thinking sounds, production and ideas. She’s a resident at NYC’s Nowadays, a regular at Berghain and De School, and has spent the last 10 years touring like-minded clubs, raves and festivals all over the world.

My @canyonvibration set is up on Canyon’s soundcloud! 🌀⛰️
was such an honor to be on this year’s lineup and open the main stage portal Friday night. I wanted my set to feel like a welcoming hug 🫂 and bring everyone in and set vibes and intentions for the night/weekend. Definitely a sound I don’t get to play out as often. I really had fun with the set. Hope you enjoy it. 🧡🧡
