Hung out with fellow collector Matt Knopp, owner of Tattoo Paradise, to pick up a few things for myself and another collector back in Los Angeles. Matt was gracious enough to let Chris and me dig through some of his personal gems, and holy shit, what an insane collection!

I’ve known Matt since the mid-’90s and bought some of my all-time favorite records from him back then. Always great catching up, talking records, and seeing some serious collector history.

Thanks again, Matt! Really appreciate the hospitality! taken in Tattoo Paradise by @krysttheconqueror

Ran into a couple of legends tonight. Walking into the Belasco to catch SLEEP and I literally run into legendary guitarist Bubba Dupree, who’s playing with the band right now. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, I bumped into Johnny Kelly from Type O Negative, Danzig and Quiet Riot. The new SLEEP album is great and they killed it tonight! taken in The Belasco by @krysttheconqueror

Exene Cervenka from X had an art show in downtown Los Angeles, so I stopped by on my way home from the Thrashin’ 40th anniversary in Simi Valley.

I caught the tail end of the show, but I was lucky enough to meet Exene and have her sign my F** You Heroes* book, along with my Under the Big Black Sun test press.

If you’re in the area, make sure to check it out.

Thank you, Exene! taken in Eastern Projects Gallery by @krysttheconqueror

Stanley / Simmons — Dancing While the World Is Ending record release at Licorice Pizza.

Imagine Tom Petty somehow becoming part of the Laurel Canyon sound. That’s the vibe I got from this one—classic songwriting with that unmistakable California feel. taken in Licorice Pizza Records by @krysttheconqueror

Henry Rollins interviewed James Spooner, director of the Afro-Punk documentary and author of It Starts with Anger, and the viewing was an awesome event!

Henry also signed my Glen E. Friedman Black Flag book along with my Lifetime test press, which made the night even more special.

The documentary was great, and it was an incredible event all around. I also happened to run into Adam from Jawbreaker, and Simon Raymonde from Cocteau Twins was DJing. Definitely a memorable night! taken in Skirball Cultural Center by @krysttheconqueror

Dirk Verbeuren of Megadeth recently held a free drum clinic in Hollywood, so we had to venture out and check it out. He absolutely ripped, playing a few new Megadeth songs along with material from his days in Soilwork. Between songs, Dirk talked about technique, touring, and the animal rights work he and his wife, acclaimed photographer Hannah Verbeuren, are passionate about. Check out their organization @savagelands_project

If you’re into heavy music photography, do yourself a favor and check out Hannah Verbeuren’s latest book on Midnight. It’s packed with killer images and is well worth tracking down for any Midnight fan or collector. taken in Musicians Institute by @krysttheconqueror
