Holistic approaches are so interesting to me. It’s all about interconnection. If you can understand the body, then you can understand the manifestations on your skin.

Chinese Face Mapping is an ancient practice recognized in Traditional Chinese Medicine. So many have reinterpreted these maps so you’ll find various versions.

Basically, if you have issues in the coded areas it would essentially be traced back to the corresponding organ.

Now, I am not a medical doctor, but I am a state certified health science teacher so I am familiar with anatomy and physiology. (I’ve been a certified pharmacy technician for over 10 years).

For myself, I only find impurities around my chin and sometimes around my forehead. In my case, this is spot on. By no means should you use this to self-diagnose yourself. GO 👏🏽TO 👏🏽YOUR👏🏽DOCTOR👏🏽SIS 😂

Disney heat doesn’t play fair and neither should your SPF game. I tested 2 SPF formulas while pulling a 9 hour Disney shift in 86F degreed weather to see how they performed.

Being a chemist and esthetician influences my consumer understanding, but I still have personal preferences. Here’s what I opted for while at @disneyland

1. Has to adequately protect (broadband + 30 spf+)
2. Lightweight, non-greasy, and moisturizing/hydrating
3. Minimal to no cast
4. Large surface area coverage to minimize application time
5. Easy/no-mess reapplication

Based on these desires, I chose two broadband SPFs in aerosol form: @coola face mist + @supergoop PLAY. You must not layer SPFs as it diminishes the efficacy. Also, skin is skin- the face mist can be used on other body parts, but the coverage is minimal. I personally wouldn’t recommend to use it other places for that alone.

@supergoop I am a fan of this product’s coverage as it has a wide spread. This was convenient for application time and hitting the parks without being a greasy mess. I didn’t experience any visible burns or physical pain post-application with this product either.

I liked the @coola mist because it helped to cool my face down. The heat and humidity was next level for it to be Cali. I did not experience any burning or visible damage which is a plus for me because I burn easily/quickly in the sun.

The @evianspray mist claims to hydrate, relieve tightness and give a softer feel to the skin. It truly is just water in a can with added nitrogen for a cooling effect. This is precisely what I used it for- to cool down on a hot Disney day. Water will not hydrate the skin by itself. Many factors play into hydration including the health of your skin barrier as it stands alone; however, if you want a quick cooling fix give it a try.

Both SPFs performed well, but I will use it over the next month to ensure that it’s consistent in this Southeast Texas heat/humidity. Also, don’t mix or layer SPFs as it will minimize the efficacy.

Social media has taught us that stronger, faster, and more aggressive treatment equals better results. This ideation can be damaging for melanin-rich skin.

Higher concentrations, excessive actives, and improperly performed treatments are at higher risk to increase inflammation. Inflammation throws melanocytes into overdrive resulting in more pigmentation, hence PIH.

Before you start the next treatment, ask yourself if it includes:
• Potential inflammation/injury control
• Barrier preservation
• Strategic treatment pacing

Low, slow, and steady isn’t a setback.
It’s how results last.
