From classroom to internship, meet Peter Burdick, an industrial engineering major completing a Summer 2026 internship with Textron Aviation in Independence, Kansas!

As an Operations Intern, Peter shares his experience:

“Throughout my internship, I've had the opportunity to shadow professionals, learn about operations and management in aerospace manufacturing, and work on a real-world industrial engineering project redesigning part of an aircraft production line!

This being my first internship, I've learned more about the manufacturing industry while getting a better idea of what my future might look like after graduation.

My favorite part so far has been the opportunity to fly a Cessna 182 and connect with full-time employees and fellow interns!”

From classroom to internship, Steven Ho, an industrial engineering major, is spending the summer as a Logistics Intern at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, where he's helping optimize supply chain operations.

Congratulations, Steven!

Steven said:
I'm working on optimizing the flow of aircraft parts from receiving at the distribution center all the way to the manufacturing plants.

I've been on the floor studying how parts move through the facilities, collecting data, and finding ways to make the process faster and more efficient. It's been a great way to see how Industrial Engineering is used in a supply chain environment. by @kstateimse
