If you’re new here — welcome. This is why I do what I do.

I’m Melissa. 👋
Wife to my amazing husband, Chad. Wedding 💍
Mom to two grown kids, Parker & Carley — forever my why.
We live in Fort Smith, AR.

By day, I’m a full-time IT professional.

I’m also a nutrition & fitness coach with @saragibbsfitness, a NASM-certified personal trainer, certified nutrition coach, and I hold a 3rd-degree black belt in Kuk Sool Won.

But titles aren’t the point.

My story didn’t start strong.

I was abused as a child and again as an adult. Like many who grow up in chaos, I searched for control — and found it in my body. In 8th grade I developed anorexia. In college, that turned into bulimia, which followed me for decades.

I became deeply codependent. My happiness was tied to everyone else’s. I eventually married someone who became emotionally abusive, addicted to drugs, and physically violent. I denied it, covered for it, and made excuses for years — until one moment made it clear I had to leave.

I became a single mom to two kids, just trying to survive. That was my bottom — but not my end.

I decided failing as a mother was not an option.

I showed up every day. At first, it was only for them. Then slowly, my belief in myself grew.

I went to counseling. I attended recovery meetings. I am now 13 years into recovery from disordered eating. I prayed. I did the inner work. Fitness and martial arts became my lifeline — building confidence, discipline, and strength when everything else felt fragile.

And somewhere along the way, survival turned into purpose.

Today, I help women rebuild their strength — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Not from perfection, but from lived experience.

Your past doesn’t define you. Wanting more doesn’t make you ungrateful. Strength is freedom. Healing is possible.

A lot of women have been taught that fat loss means:

eat less,
do more cardio,
cut out the “bad” foods,
and keep making the plan stricter until the scale moves. 😵‍💫

It doesn’t have to work that way.

Here’s what matters more:

🏋️ Strength train. If you want that “toned” look, you need muscle underneath the body fat you’re trying to lose. Two or more challenging strength sessions per week is a great place to start.

🚶 Move consistently. Cardio is fantastic for your health, but you don’t need to spend hours trying to burn off your food. Daily movement and something like 7–10K steps can do a lot of heavy lifting.

🍽️ Pay attention to total intake. Avocados, nuts, olive oil, granola, smoothies—all nutritious. They also still have calories. “Healthy” eating and eating in a way that supports fat loss are not automatically the same thing.

📊 If you genuinely have no idea how much you’re eating, tracking for a period of time can be incredibly useful. It gives you information, not a grade.

🍕 Leave room for real life. You probably don’t need to eliminate carbs, dessert, pizza, or every food you enjoy. An 80/20 approach is often much easier to stick with than trying to eat “perfectly.”

And if you’re trying to estimate calories, formulas like target body weight × 12 can be a rough starting point—not a rule. Your activity, hunger, energy, progress, and individual needs still matter.

Fat loss doesn’t need to be more extreme.

It needs to be something you can actually repeat long enough for it to work. ❤️

There’s a lot about coaching that never makes it onto the screen.

You might see a workout adjustment, a nutrition suggestion, or a response to your check-in.

What you don’t see is everything happening behind it. 🧠

The wondering.

The problem-solving.

The “Does she really need to eat less—or does she need to stop skipping lunch?”

The “Does she need another workout—or does she need permission to recover?”

The “Is this a nutrition problem… or is her entire life on fire right now?” 😅

And you definitely don’t see how invested I get in the wins that might seem small to everyone else.

The workout you almost skipped.

The meal you actually sat down and ate.

The weekend that didn’t turn into another Monday restart.

The first time you stop saying, “I’m just not disciplined,” and start realizing you’re actually becoming consistent.

That stuff matters to me.

Because coaching has never been about handing someone macros and a workout spreadsheet.

It’s about helping a real person figure out how to make this work in a real life.

And when someone trusts me enough to let me into that process?

I take that seriously. ❤️

The goal was never to become the woman who never misses a workout, never stress eats, sleeps perfectly, and has her shit together 100% of the time. 😅

The goal is to become the woman who doesn’t turn one rough day into a rough week.

👉Missed the workout? Come back.
👉Ate more than planned? Come back.
👉Bad sleep? Come back.
👉Life got messy? Come back.

You don’t need to punish yourself.

You don’t need to wait for Monday.

You just need to get really good at returning to the habits that make you feel like you. ❤️

If your bank account kept coming up short every month, you probably wouldn’t say:

“I refuse to look at my transactions because I want financial freedom.” 😂

You’d look at the numbers.

Not because you’re obsessed with money.

Because you want to understand where it’s going.

Food tracking can work the same way. 📊

You do not have to track forever.

But if you’ve spent months—or years—saying:

“I don’t eat that much.”
“I eat pretty healthy.”
“I don’t understand why I’m not losing.”

…then a little data might be more useful than another round of guessing.

And that’s the point.

Tracking isn’t supposed to become your life.

It’s supposed to teach you enough about your portions, habits, hunger, and intake that eventually you can make those decisions with a whole lot more confidence.

Use the tool. Learn the skill. Then need the tool less. 💛

Listen, I appreciate the concern… but some of us survived an era where a bowl of cereal was marketed as a weight-loss plan. 😂

I’ve made my peace with Diet DP.

Pick another battle. 💅

This is the part of consistency nobody talks about enough:

You do not need to be perfect.

You need to stop treating every imperfect day like proof that you failed.

For the woman who has spent years in the “on track / off track / start again Monday” cycle… this is where things finally change.

Bad night of sleep? Keep going.
Ate more than planned? Keep going.
Missed a workout? Keep going.
Stress got the better of you? Keep going.

You don’t need a reset.

You need your next decision.

The women who make progress are not the ones who never have messy days.

They’re the ones who stop letting a messy day become a reason to quit. 💛

"I feel better than I have in years."

That's Vanessa, 10 months in to the Metabolic Priming Method.

When we first talked, she'd already done the homework. She'd read the articles and knew the basics.

What she couldn't find was an answer built for her: a 45-year-old busy mom with a packed calendar.

She told me she just needed someone to tell her what would actually work for HER, not a generic plan on the internet.

So working 1:1 with Coach Melissa, here's what we did:

1. We mapped her schedule and how she actually eats and uncovered any patterns that had been keeping her stuck and body unresponsive.

2. Every week Coach Melissa reviewed her data and guided her in the area of focus. That's how she kept making progress through the busy weeks.

3. We stacked skills one at a time, because that's how a system becomes sustainable over time.

Today she has more energy than she's had in years. She's down inches and pounds, and her body composition is completely transformed.

My favorite part? She knows exactly how to keep it.

Not everything that feels hard needs to be avoided.

Sometimes the hard workout, the uncomfortable choice, or showing up when you’d rather not… is exactly how you become the woman you’ve been talking about becoming. 💪❤️

You don’t need perfect.

You just need to keep showing up.

There’s a reason investing in help can feel terrifying when you’ve already tried everything.

It’s not always the money.

Sometimes it’s the fear of being disappointed again.

You’ve already been the woman who got excited about the new plan.

Bought the supplements.
Tried the diet.
Started the workout program.
Had the labs done.
Promised yourself, “This time I’m going to stick with it.”

And when it didn’t become the answer you hoped for, you didn’t just lose money.

You lost a little more trust in yourself.

So now researching feels safer than deciding.

Trying alone feels safer than risking another disappointment.

I understand that.

But there comes a point where “I’ll keep trying on my own” stops being patience and starts becoming the thing keeping you in the same cycle.

There are no guarantees with any body or any program.

But you can stop guessing.

You can get support.

You can look honestly at what you’ve tried, what isn’t working, and what needs to change.

That’s what we do inside the Metabolic Priming Method.

If you’re tired of still asking the same questions six months from now, DM me READY and we’ll talk about whether it’s a fit for you. 💛
