it’s already been a little over a month since C̴l̴o̴s̴e̴ ̴t̴o̴ ̴t̴h̴e̴ ̴C̴l̴o̴u̴d̴s̴ opened @bemiscenter, on view until may 3. a bittersweet experience bringing my chapter in omaha to an end with the opening of an exhibition.

Close to the Clouds considers how the formation of collective identities takes place utilizing technology and the internet. the exhibition features new and reconfigured works by: Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme, Zainab Aliyu, Rindon Johnson, Lauren Lee McCarthy and Kyle McDonald, Rebeca Romero, and Tianyi Sun and Fiel Guhit—some who i’ve worked with previously, and others i’d been hoping to work with for many years 💭

expanding the ideas found in the exhibition are also written contributions by @eileenonline_ @frederikesperling and @jac_in_da_club, which can be accessed via link in bio.

if you’re in town on march 19, join me for a lecture by Jacinda Tran related to her own ongoing research and overlapping interest in the themes of the exhibition.

so grateful for the support from bemis staff, fellow residents who i serendipitously overlapped with during my 18 months, and new friends i’ve gained in omaha 🌾

the cat has gently been let out of the bag, i’m moving to st louis this weekend to start my new role as the exhibitions manager for @counterpublic. my midwest era continues :’)

in the meantime, summer wrapped up while bopping around to see friends and being part of the 20th anniversary cohort of @themountainschoolofarts

still can’t believe “and so on” opened almost a month ago @dasweissehaus. the exhibition is on until early feb 2023 so plz send all your vienna friends ✨

the last couple of years have been difficult and unpredictable in many different ways. even though i’m going into 2023 with no set plans, i’m still so grateful that this year i got to leave ny to reset, refocus, and meet/spend time with so many incredible people.
