POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Gonna try out a new hobby I’ve never really gotten into: reading. But not just any reading… fictional novels.

I’ve never been a big reader but maybe I just haven’t found the right captivating genre. In the past, I found myself always picking up memoirs, autobiographies, self-help books, etc. and while there’s a time and place for those, I feel like I’ll get halfway through and lose interest. So, here I am, with a silly little fictional love story novel hoping I can gain a new appreciation for this analog hobby (that no one else seems to enjoy anymore either??) and get tf off my phone. (after I finish typing this post, of course 🤣).

If you have any book recommendations plz comment below. by @kttee_

she’s learning how to make oatmeal and I’m learning how to delegate tasks in the kitchen 🫶👏😂🤝

gotta fuel up before we have a long morning playing outside, then working out while she naps.

Recently bought this @piccalio toddler tower because I noticed she was curious about what I was cooking. So instead of distracting her with a snack in her high chair while I cook, I’ve now hired her to be my sous chef so she can learn the importance of cooking and fueling her body too.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about generational health.

For generations, women were strong because everyday life demanded it. Raising children, tending gardens, cooking, cleaning, carrying things. Physical labor was just part of life, not something you had to schedule into your day.

While most of that is still true in modern times, somewhere along the way, we engineered a lot of that movement out of our lives thanks to new conveniences. For example, I spent years sitting at a desk for 8+ hours a day, only to become a mom and suddenly find myself moving constantly. Picking up a growing baby 100x a day, cleaning the house, cooking dinner most nights, going on stroller walks etc. All of these little things have made me feel wayy more connected to my body.

Now, a year postpartum, I’m trying to get back into lifting weights, but my motivation feels completely different than before.

I think about my mother and the health challenges she’s been facing for 6+ years now… I think about my family’s overall health history and what that could possibly mean for me as I get older.. and mostly, I think about my daughter and how I want to feel when she’s my age.

It’s interesting that we might be one of the first generations of women in our families to intentionally build muscle, not just for how our bodies look and feel today, but for how we want to live decades from now.

A few accounts I love following on here that keep me motivated to move my body:

about to be soooo locked in 🏋🏼‍♀️… especially once I deprioritize this app and prioritize my health. What a crazy concept???

We recently moved our gym equipment to a more naturally lit corner of our basement and I’m finally re inspired to workout and prioritize my fitness goals.

Watch till the end to see who actually moved the equipment. 💪 by @kttee_

My thoughts on childcare as a first time SAHM ⤵️👩🏼‍💻✨

Recently I’ve been itching to get back into my own creative flow, which has required me to seek out childcare for my 1 year old baby. I quickly found out the hard way that parents get on waitlists for childcare YEARS in advance. This has left me stuck between a rock and a hard place, because I need childcare for both my mental sanity and for our family financial situation. I’ve even spent the last few weeks touring a few options of places where we could pay a deposit of upwards of $200 just to be placed on a waitlist and likely never get a call. This is when I decided to reach out on a FB group about finding a babysitter. I know this is a more expensive route, but I am only needing around 15-20 hours a week, and the offset of my hourly freelance rate makes this doable. The perks of this are having my baby in the comfort of her own home, staying on her existing schedule, and she gets one-on-one care from a fun, loving college student. I previously was using an on-demand childcare place in town that was basically the same price as hiring a babysitter, so that’s when I decided to take the sitter/nanny route instead.

The main reason I am even sharing these thoughts is because I know the stress of seeking childcare as a mother early-on can be very overwhelming, but if you’re even remotely considering needing childcare it is soooo important to get on those waitlists wayyy ahead of time, even if you end up declining their offer.

My second point I want to make is that you should NEVER feel guilty for seeking help for childcare. ESPECIALLY if you aren’t fortunate enough to have family in town that can help for “free”. Find a reliable babysitter you can call on for those days when you really need some “me time” or if you get to a place in motherhood where you want to regain your own sense of creativity. It’s already proving to help me re-balance myself. by @kttee_

When I found out I was pregnant I didn’t know that having an unmedicated birth “intentionally” was an option. All I knew was my mom’s personal experience of almost giving birth to me on the way to the hospital, and arriving too dilated for an epidural.

Taking the @builttobirth course and hiring a doula helped me become super educated, prepared, and empowered to have a positive unmedicated birth.

I’ve contemplated sharing this story for a year now and it feels good to get it off my chest! Let me know if you would find a more in-depth labor experience video helpful.

If you also had a positive unmedicated birth experience, comment below. I know other mamas would love to feel the encouragement and assurance that this can be a great experience. 🫶 by @kttee_
