What does it mean when a system commits genocide?

In this lecture delivered at the University of Oslo (21 October 2025), Iyad El-Baghdadi argues that Gaza is a paradigm-breaking moment that exposes the deep structures of the post-1945 world-system and signals its collapse.

Drawing on Ibn Khaldun and contemporary systems theory, he asks how we read this moment, where we stand in a generational shift, and how we begin building the next world system, a system for all of us.

Most geopolitical analysis is cold and state-centric. At How to Liberate, we look at the longer arcs beneath the news, and what they mean for collective liberation and systems change.

We published this analysis in March, in the first days of the war on Iran, as an early preview of the work we do at Kulna. Seven months, a broken ceasefire and a disrupted Strait of Hormuz later, the deeper logic we traced still holds.
