Why Israel can’t stop starting new wars: This is a preview video of KULNA, our new platform launching soon. Follow us @kulna_co and stay updated.

The full preview video can be found on YouTube, link in bio.

In the episode, Iyad El-Baghdadi and Ahmed Gatnash on the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran, a war that looks irrational from Washington, but starts to make sense as an Israeli-driven war the United States was pulled into. Israel is locked into open-ended war with no off-ramp. Not because of one leader, but because of a broad political consensus, and a fear that the window of unconditional American support is closing.

There are moments when this work stops being abstract.

When it becomes deeply personal.
This is one of those moments.
My friend, Ahmed Shihab-Eldin, an award-winning journalist who has spent his life telling stories that challenge power and centre truth, is currently being detained in Kuwait.

He has not been seen publicly since early March. He is reportedly facing charges linked to “national security” and “spreading false information” — accusations that are too often used to silence journalists.

Let’s be clear:
Journalism is not a crime.
Ahmed’s work has always been about dignity, accountability, and refusing to look away. He is one of those voices that refuses to be shaped by fear, and that kind of courage often comes at a cost.

But this is bigger than one person.
His detention reflects a growing pattern where “security” is used as a justification to suppress truth, control narratives, and silence those who dare to document reality.

And we cannot be silent about that.
Ahmed, I see you.
I stand with you.
And I will continue to say your name until you are free.

Because friendship is not just about love in easy moments.

It is about showing up when it matters most.

The world is in pain, and in moments like this, what we build together matters more than ever.

We are soon launching Kulna - an independent media platform dedicated to systems change and collective liberation - across geopolitics, healing, art, and resistance.

From us you can expect honesty about power, moral clarity without cynicism, and a focus on the longer arcs of history, where real change happens.

Come build with us. Be among the first to join as a founding believer, or add your email to the waitlist. Link in bio.
