i can't believe i only started running mid march and already have two half marathons under my belt, what the heck!!! 🏅🏅

i am so proud of me and my body ❤️ i am grateful for my mind which hasn't let me quit, for the privilege i have to run along the beach, for the things my body is capable of achieving. i have never been an athletic person and have always found love in indoor hobbies - but even though it's not my natural state, i am so proud that i can still find joy and accomplishment in being uncomfortable and pushing myself.

i ran a half marathon if you can even believe it!!! 🏃🏽‍♀️💨 i started running 3 months ago and have already run a half - how can that be real?! it's hard to wrap my head around but i will do my best below (sry if it's heavy) 👇

to start:
i can't even believe i went out there on race day. i have two close relatives going through cancer care simultaneously (this race was between hospital visits and trips home) + 🇲🇽 LA is in chaos

on top of that, in the week leading up to this race, i was severely depressed, the kind where it takes everything to get out of bed, where the negative self-speak is in your ear 24/7 telling you all the ways you are failing. they say you have to keep a positive attitude for a race (and also, turns out, you DO have to get out bed to do it) and i just had nothing kind to say to myself.

but i am no quitter 😤 and after a night of full body sobbing, i picked myself up, geared up, and got my ass out there. and i am so glad i did bc WOW!! I DID THAT!!

📣 shoutouts 📣

• my friends + running group of incredible women - ty for constantly inspiring me, for 3 months of sharing tips and pains and challenges, for the carb load dinner, photoshoots, and support gifts, for peer pressuring me to sign up in the first place (cough @ohoshin). + special shoutout to @cozycheeto and @aud.18 for running the full 13.1 miles with me! truly could not have done it without you 🫂

• my trainer for all his guidance and helping me strengthen my body/endurance on my non-run days. everyone who sent messages of encouragement as i trained, and especially the voice memos during the race itself. the kwiz community rallying for me in discord and listening to my progress reports!

• and above all shoutout to my fam + mom especially who taught me all the ways of running, and encouraged me every step of the way. this race is dedicated to you ❤️❤️

💪🏽 finally:

i am proud of myself for doing this, for my self discipline and hard work, for every ache and 4am wake up call, for proving that my body can do some amazing things! this was one of the hardest thing i've ever done, and i'm about to do it again - next half is in <4 months, see you there ✨✨✨ by @kwizten
