We are thrilled to welcome Christy Hayes, MPA, to Kaleidoscope Youth Center as our Executive Director, starting November 3 🌈

“For more than 30 years, KYC has met LGBTQIA+ people where they are and made sure they know they belong. I know what that means because I'm part of this community myself, and my career has been built on the belief that people deserve dignity, and someone steady who sees them, wherever they are. I don't take lightly what this moment asks of the organization, or what it means to lead it. Ohio high school students: What’s it like to be LGBTQ+ at your school? What do you wish could be better?

Join us on October 20 for a listening event on Zoom, part of the Belonging for Every Student Listening Campaign. We want to learn how recent anti-LGBTQ+ laws and school policies are affecting your school experience.

Students and parents are invited, with separate Zoom rooms so students can talk with students and parents can talk with parents.

Your experiences will help shape advocacy for safer, more inclusive Ohio schools during the 2026–2027 school year. Your perspective matters, your safety matters, and you matter!

📣 The Columbus LGBTQIA+ community is celebrating the extraordinary legacy of Danny Stout, a longtime Columbus resident, entrepreneur, and well-known member of our community who passed away in July.

Through his estate, Danny left a combined $750,000 legacy gift to Stonewall Columbus, Kaleidoscope Youth Center, and Equality Ohio. This is a transformational investment that will strengthen LGBTQIA+ advocacy, youth services, community spaces, and the organizations working every day to serve our community.

Danny’s generosity comes at a consequential moment for LGBTQIA+ nonprofits. His investment will help create critical sustainability amid an increasingly uncertain funding and political environment.

Danny’s generosity is also a powerful reminder that legacy is not simply what we leave behind—it’s what we make possible for those who come next. By including LGBTQIA+ organizations in wills, trusts, beneficiary designations, and estate plans, we can help sustain the institutions that have sustained us.
