“Freedom is a noble thing.”

Excerpt from The Brus, penned by John Barbour, a long poem about Robert the Bruce and Scotland’s Wars of Independence.
(Modern English Translation below)

A! fredome is a noble thing!
Fredome mays man to haiff liking;
Fredome all solace to man giffis:
He levys at es that frely levys.

A noble hart may haiff nane es,
Na ellys nocht that may him ples,
Gyff fredome failyhe: for fre liking
Is yharnyt our all othir thing.

Na he, that ay has levyt fre,
May nocht knaw weill the propyrte,
The angyr, na the wrechyt dome,
That is cowplyt to foule thyrldome.

Bot gyff he had assayit it,
Than all perquer he suld it wyt;
And suld think fredome mar to prys,
Than all the gold in warld that is.

Ah, freedom is a noble thing!

bound up with harsh slavery.

Happy Birthday to my Adventurous Wife. All my days are better and fuller because of you. You just make everything amazing.
God only knew what would lay ahead of my life the day I met you. But I have never seen so many sights, hiked mountains, walked woodland paths, trekked, swam, explored and experienced life like I do with you.

Nicola Happy Mothers Day!!
You are such an incredible Mom and Wife.
There’s ZERO question as to who is the better, more fun, wisdom, all the good stuff parent.
You have loved our family so well.
Who would have known you’d be such a great parent and spouse? Oh wait, ME!
I knew from the moment I met you and got to see your heart for the Lord and people YOU were the one I wanted to grow with and develop people with.
You have helped so many!!

Happy Mothers Day to the Mom who helped me become who I am.
She sang with me.
She laughed with me.
She talked to me when I needed wisdom.
I am so very thankful for her.
And to have to deal with these three boys. She’s pretty amazing.
