Some moments in life remind you what really matters. ❤️

Today was one of those moments.

My nephew, my FIRST son before I had a son 😂, DeVante Rodney, officially became a married man!

Watching someone you’ve known since he was a little boy step into a new chapter of life hits differently. You think about the years, the memories, the laughter, the lessons, and how quickly time moves.

DeVante, I’ve watched you grow, and seeing you stand tall as a husband is something special. I’m proud of the man you’ve become, and even more excited about the man you’re continuing to grow into.

To your beautiful bride, Emikeh James, welcome to the family! ❤️

Marriage is about more than finding someone you love. It’s about choosing each other, growing together, protecting your peace, building a foundation, and creating a legacy that will outlive you both.

And let me give you both one piece of advice. DON’T BE A QUITTER! Marriage won’t always be easy. There will be disagreements, difficult days, and moments when you don’t see eye to eye. But remember why you chose each other. Communicate, listen, forgive, and never let pride become bigger than your love. When things get tough, don’t be so quick to walk away. Sit down, talk it through, and do the work to figure it out together. No matter what life throws your way, always choose to fight for your marriage, not against each other. Never forget that you’re on the same team.

My prayer is that your home is always filled with love, laughter, patience, friendship, forgiveness, and plenty of unforgettable memories.

And DeVante, just because you’re somebody’s husband now doesn’t mean you stop being my first son! 😂❤️

Family is the foundation. Love is the blessing. Legacy is what we build together.

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Rodney! 🥂❤️

When the cheers stop, who are you?

We spend so much time preparing athletes for the next game, the next season and the next level.

But are we preparing them for the next chapter?

The jersey eventually comes off. The crowds get quieter. The attention changes. And that is when knowing who you are beyond the game becomes even more important.

This is one of the conversations we need to start having BEFORE the game ends.

Athletes are more than what they produce on the court or field.

Athletes, former athletes, parents and coaches: What do you think we need to do better to prepare athletes for life beyond sports?

In sports, we learn how to play through pain.

But strength is not always about pushing through.

Sometimes strength is saying, “I need help.”

Athletes, coaches, parents, executives, entrepreneurs, all of us can carry pressure that nobody else sees.

Asking for help does not make you weak. Having the right people around you can change everything.
