Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about why certain projects feel so good when you look back on them.

These clips are just some tiny moments from a recent commercial campaign (releasing soon) with literally a few seconds here and there, but they hold so much of what made this project special for me.

It wasn’t just the shots.

It was the people.

Having a DP and camera op I trust.

Working with real athletes who actually live this world.

David helping everything run smoother than it ever could have otherwise.

JP absolutely going f*ckin’ crazy in post (like this guy is insanely talented)

I’m realizing more and more that the best work I’ve ever made came from not trying to do everything myself.

When you bring the right people into the room…

When everyone is really good at what they do…

When you trust each other…

The work gets better.

And honestly, the whole experience gets way more fun.

Just sharing a few of my favorite little moments here.

Full campaign coming soon.

If you’re building something, don’t do it alone.

What’s the #1 secret to landing and keeping those high-ticket clients like Gatorade?

It’s not just about making the coolest content. It’s about solving problems and creating real results.

Sure, charging more might be tempting, but the real magic happens when you shift your focus. Think about this: When you invest in something, you expect results, right? Well, so does your client.

Stop chasing the “cool” factor and start listening. Understand your client’s pain points and how you can alleviate them. 🧩 Your goal? To minimize their pain and inconvenience while delviering results that MATTER. If you can do that, they’ll keep coming back, again and again.

Believe in yourself and your passion. Building and scaling a creative business or personal brand takes time and effort. Stay dedicated, show up, and understand that the journey to attract globally recognized clients isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely worth it.

🚀 Ready to make your dreams a reality? Focus on results, not just aesthetics, and watch your business soar. 🌟

This is what a real set actually looks like.

Not the movie version. Not the polished BTS reel. Just my glasses rolling while we work.

This was a series of broadcast commercials for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

And honestly, most of directing isn’t the moment you call action.

It’s the in-between.

Checking the monitor. Walking over to talent to adjust one thing. Talking through the next setup with camera while a light’s already moving behind me.

If you watch closely you can see where everyone lives on set. Cameras, lights, monitor, talent, crew. Everybody has a spot and a job, and it only works when everyone knows both.

My job is to keep all of it moving in the same direction without anyone feeling rushed.

Calm voice. Clear notes. Decide fast.

That’s the part nobody films. So I did.

Stick around to the end. That’s the final spot, and that’s what all this unglamorous stuff turns into.

🥊🎬 The energy you feel on camera starts with the energy on set.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look mixed with the final footage from our shoot with @velocitygearusa , and this one’s all about how we work.

For a brand like this, intensity isn’t optional. It has to be real, and it has to come through the lens. And you don’t fake that in the edit, you build it on set. So we run our productions to be efficient, dialed-in, and genuinely fun, keeping the energy high all day long. When the crew is locked in and enjoying the process, the talent feels it, and that’s what ends up on screen.

Great content is craft and strategy, yes but it’s also culture. The way you run a set shows up in every frame.

This is how we work, and honestly, why we love what we do. by @kyleloftusstudios

Lenny Dykstra says no to almost everyone.
Shows, interviews, documentaries. He’s turned a lot of them down.
So when he said yes to ours, the job wasn’t just to light it well and get the shot.
The job was to make sure he actually showed up.
Commercial work trains you to move fast. Call time, set up, roll, next.
Documentary doesn’t work like that.
Nobody opens up to a room full of strangers pointing cameras at them. They open up to people they trust.
So we did the slow stuff first.
We went to see Lenny at his hotel the day before. No cameras, no questions. Just said hey.
On the day, our director Doug didn’t open with interview questions. Cameras were rolling, but he spent a long time just talking with Lenny, person to person. You could tell how much homework he’d done on Lenny’s life before he ever walked in the room.
From behind the camera, I watched the whole room shift.
Lenny didn’t just do the interview. He let us in.
Everyone says they want to work with people they know, like and trust.
In documentary that’s not a bonus. It’s the whole job.
They don’t have to like you. But they have to trust you.

As the DP, my job in that stretch is to stay out of the way. Lock the frame early, keep the crew quiet and still, and don’t make anyone feel like they’re on a set.

It’s kind of funny how full circle this is.

When I first got into filmmaking, the first thing I was doing was corporate interviews. Like super cut and dry, boring corporate interviews. And honestly they felt like the least creative thing I could be doing. So limiting.

And now here I am. Lighting interviews 10 years later.

Obviously the work is different now. Bigger brands, enterprise companies, more budget. But at the end of the day I’m still lighting a person sitting in a chair talking.

So what changed?

Honestly, I think it was me.

Back then I saw the limitations as the problem. One person, one chair, a room you didn’t pick, not a lot of time. It felt like there was no room to be creative.

Now that’s the part I love. You walk into a space you’ve never seen, with someone you’ve never met, and you’ve got maybe an hour to make it look like something worth remembering. Different room, different person, different time of day, different problems every single time.

I’ve realized I don’t need unlimited options to be creative. I actually do my best work when I’ve got constraints and a clock running. It forces you to make decisions and trust your instincts.

And it helps that I love documentaries. And I love working with companies that actually believe in the power of content and creativity and want to invest in it.

The thing I used to think was the most boring part of this job is now one of my favorite parts. Same chair. Different perspective.

AI isn’t taking your job. Not this part of it.

Sure, lot of content is about to get automated if we are all being honest. The quick product shots. The filler posts. It’s already happening.

But there’s one thing AI will never produce:
the people behind the brand.

We’re human. We want to connect with other humans. We want to hear a founder explain why she started, in her own words and feel that she means it.

That’s why the brand film isn’t going anywhere.

It’s one of the most powerful assets a brand can own. It works on your website, in your ads, at launches, and across your socials for years.
It’s what makes people fall in love with who you are and want to be part of the community and culture you’ve built.

So with @Tempra.studio my job wasn’t to script Romina into sounding polished. It was to build a real relationship with her and her team first.
Make them comfortable. Give them the space and freedom to be themselves.

You can feel that through the camera.
The best moments in this film live between the lines.

Filmmakers: the tools will keep changing. The ability to make someone feel safe enough to be real on camera won’t go out of style.

Brands: the more AI fills the feed, the more real stands out.

So these are some recent video postcards from my time in Miami with @claudiaprieto

And honestly they’re more for me than anyone else.
Lately I’ve just been learning to slow down and actually appreciate life. Like the little moments. The fleeting ones that we’ve all kind of come to accept as just normal.

A calm day by the water. Walking through a beautiful park and breathing in the fresh air. Getting to just be present with someone you love. Her laughing at something I said that wasn’t even funny.

And I think that’s the point.

Like that stuff is so beautiful. And I’m learning to appreciate it more and more as I get older.

So posting these is really just a way for me to remind myself to be present and grateful. And it’s something I can always look back on. When I’m scrolling through my Instagram I know this is gonna make me smile.

But I also hope it’s a little reminder for whoever’s reading this right now. I know you might be going through some stuff. Problems, struggles, whatever it is. But there’s so much to love and appreciate about your life. So many beautiful things in it.

You just gotta stop and look around every once in a while. Otherwise you might miss it. by @kyleloftusstudios

Some characters just show up and refuse to leave. The Irish mailman is one of them. No real reason for him to exist, which is exactly why he does. This is the kind of thing I love to make purely because it makes me laugh. My whole rule for comedy is that if it makes me laugh alone in a room, it’s worth shooting. The Irish mailman fully passed that test. It’s dumb, it’s committed, and commitment is 90% of the joke. Not every video has to teach you something. Some just have to hit. This is one of those.
Turn your sound on, lower your expectations, and let a man commit way too hard to a bit.

Beautiful content that doesn’t sell is just expensive art.
Our job isn’t to make something that looks good and call it a day. It’s to make something that looks incredible and accomplishes the brand’s objective: positioning, attention, desire, action.

This commercial for @velocitygear is exactly that: high-end visuals engineered with strategy underneath every shot, so it doesn’t just impress, it works.

That’s what we do best: blending filmmaking, lighting, and marketing strategy into content that actually performs.
If you’re a brand that understands the value of content that does both, let’s build something. 🥊
