This fight hit a bit differently this time…

After every fight I’ve ever had, as soon as my hand wraps were off — and if I didn’t already have a bunch of missed calls from her — Mum was the first person I’d call.

The grief of losing someone close to you, especially a parent, is a different beast. Learning how to live life again without them, or realising the future moments you’ll never be able to share — it comes in waves that you’re never prepared for.

But it also acts as a reminder of how lucky I am to have had such a special person in my life, someone who could make me feel this much over something so small.

Successful day out @q1muaythaiseries yesterday 🥊✅🥊✅🥊✅

@lokotomis opened up the show in his first DEMO style match. Displayed beautiful composure and mixed his punches and kicks together very well

@brent.hinkins had his second amateur fight under Full Thai Rules. Once our Battle Giraffe established his teep early, he was able use it to build all his other strikes off it to secure another win 🏅

@albertdai made his amateur debut under Mod Thai Rules. Albert pushed the pace for the entire fight with lots of volume and good distance management and fought his heart out in the clinch for the win 🥇 - especially proud of this bloke for dropping 5kg for this match!

All of these boys started out with us @olympia_gym_brisbanecbd as absolute beginners and really just picked up Muay Thai to try something new - pretty stoked to have been able to watch the skill and personal development of these fellas 👊🏽 by @kyleolympia_

Like so many of our members, Yaya walked through our doors with absolutely no experience! Fast forward to today and she’s consistently attending classes every week, putting in the extra work with weekly PT sessions with @kyleolympia_ and continuing to take her technique to the next level 🙌🔥

Just an average Friday night at the club here 😅😂

But in all seriousness, sparring can be one of the scariest parts of starting Muay Thai.

That’s why we take a lot of pride in creating a safe, controlled and supportive environment where beginners can learn at their own pace.

Good sparring isn’t about hurting your teammates… it’s about helping each other improve 🙌
