What a joy to be at the @midwesternseminary “For the Church Conference” this year. This conference retains the award of “Best Singing Conference.” Something about that chapel and those voices always encourages me.

My dad and I spent time talking with ministry leaders, old and new, about the first five years of ministry leadership. Encouraging to hear the message of our new book resonating with these co-laborers.

A real honor and delight to get to do this with my father, from whom I’ve learned so much about the shape and tenor of pastoral ministry.

It’s clear to me: Emerging ministry leaders and those who are coaching them see the same opportunities and hurdles we do.

It encouraged us that our new book “The First Five: How to Beat the Odds and Thrive as a Ministry Leader” is coming at the right time.

Like I told the leaders in our breakouts: I wish I could give all ministry leaders my dad’s phone number, so they could call and text him when they are facing new obstacles or opportunities.

But the book is the best I can offer - distilling 40 years of faithful ministry down to a handful of key principles and practices. Plus an appendix full of practical guides, resources, FAQs, and outlines.

Plus, he’s not great at text messages - so - the book is probably better anyways.

Love what God is doing at Midwestern and couldn’t be more excited about the future for @spurgeon_college. by @kyleworley

The truth is: I wrote a book I needed.

Home with God is the most important book I’ll ever write. Because it focuses on the one truth we all need all the time.

The doctrine of union with Christ is both the grounds and the goal of our salvation. John Frame said, “The most general thing you can say about a Christian is that they are in Christ.”

I’d modify that a bit: In Christ is the most general and the most wonderful thing that can be said of a Christian.

If you are forgetful like me, make time to remember who you belong to. In Christ, God is not waiting on a future version of you that he is going to love more. by @kyleworley

Are you considering stepping into formal theological education?

I’m currently a doctoral student at Midwestern Seminary and my experience has been superb. Hospitable faculty of brilliant thinkers + real love for the local church = total win.

I’ve been on campus for a seminar this week and one of the most exciting things has been hearing whispers of what’s coming for Spurgeon College. They have some very exciting plans that, IMO, are exactly what Christian colleges need to be targeting.

I’ll be up at this beautiful campus again, with a crew from my church, in two weeks for the “For the Church” national conference. If you are around, be sure to introduce yourself. by @kyleworley

Hi! It’s been awhile since I introduced myself here. Bonus at the bottom for those who read the whole thing.

Some of you are old friends, some are members of @mosaicrichardson, some are ministry leaders I’ve met along the way, some of you are listeners to @knowingfaithpodcast, and others started following me after picking up one of my books.

Whoever you are, I’m glad you are here. Who am I?

I am a child of God in Christ. Before I am anything, I am a beloved son/brother in Christ. Good news!

I am the husband to Lauren Worley and the father to Lydia and LaRuby. We are an adoptive family who also served as a foster care home for a few years. Outside of Jesus, my girls are the deep delight of my life.

I enjoy daddy daughter dates, traveling with my wife, reading lots of fiction, listening to music, going to concerts, and training jiu jitsu @corvoma.

I am one of the pastors @mosaicrichardson where I preach and teach regularly. I’m passionate about prayer and evangelism. If you are in the Richardson/North Dallas area - come drop in one Sunday and introduce yourself. I’d love to meet you.

I am the host of @knowingfaithpodcast alongside my friends Jen and JT. I helped launch other podcasts like @confronting_christianity and the Tiny Theologians podcast. JT, Jen, and I are frequent collaborators with our most recent BIG project being “The Deep Discipleship Program” with @lifeway.

I am a writer. My books include “Home with God,” “Formed for Fellowship,” and “The Dragon Slayer and His Super Special Suit.” I also put out a free weekly newsletter (you can find at the link in my bio) where I cover the intersection of faith, culture, and theology.

A bonus for those who read this far: My last name is Worley and in 6th grade I’d give myself swirleys in the toilet at school for $5 a pop. Kids called me “swirley Worley.”

Here are three ways I get through writer’s block. They never work, but that doesn’t keep me from trying them again and again and again.

I’d love to hear from my fellow creatives - what are the things you do to break the block that also don’t work? by @kyleworley

You can talk to people about Jesus everyday without being a weirdo about it. For real.

Last week I wrapped up the production of a new study with @lifeway entitled “Prepared to Share: How to Engage in Joy Filled Evangelism.” Those who know me well, know that I’m passionate about evangelism.

Sharing my biggest failures and victories from the last decade of personal evangelism, very simple ways to bring up Jesus in the midst of ordinary life, and a plan for any church to engage in ordinary evangelism - the study isn’t just another “what does the Bible say?” - but moves participants from “hearing” to “doing.”

It was a joy to shoot the whole thing in the town I live and evangelize in - in the actual locations where I am talking about Jesus with real people. The people I interviewed are real members of our church who have moved from fear to faith when it comes to sharing Jesus with others.

I am so excited to for this study to release in May. My hope is that every participant can grow from feeling scared and unprepared to share the gospel - ready and joyful at every opportunity. by @kyleworley

Can we still trust Christian leaders?

Tomorrow, @kyleworley returns to Confronting Christianity with his dad, longtime pastor Joe Worley, to talk about what faithful leadership looks like when nobody is watching.

I’ve been very surprised at what I’ve heard from folks about my books!

When I wrote “Home with God,” in my mind, it was the book that I thought I’d hear more about than any other. But over and over again, I hear from readers (tall and small) about “The Dragon Slayer and His Super Special Suit.” This has been such a surprise!

In truth, these books belong together. Both are my attempt to showcase the doctrine of union with Christ in a way that invites believers, adults and children, into the wonder of life IN Christ.

If you’ve read one, you might enjoy the other! by @kyleworley

Season 2 is LIVE!

We kicked things off with @kyleworley, and this conversation was such an encouraging reminder that following Jesus isn’t about getting everything exactly right.

It’s not about how hard we try or how perfectly we obey. It’s about trusting in God’s faithfulness and remembering that it’s always been about Jesus.
