The second annual Champagne festival is now officially live. What makes me so proud to host this event is that it’s a true celebration of the wine region, and not just a promotion of the wonderful producers I’m lucky enough to work with. This will be the most holistically approached event with bottles available from some of the most allocated growers, and big houses alike. Thanks for making me feel like this was worth doing again. Toronto, an endless amount of gratitude 🙏

1 - In the vineyards of the Côte des Blancs grand cru village Chouilly with Antoine from @pertoislebrun talking about the 2024 harvest challenges, and the added perspective going into the next vintage.

2 - Tasting 2024 vin clair, the still, unfinished wines that are destined to become champagne in Cramant. Not to be confused with coteaux champenois. The latter being a finished still wine (some bad examples taste like vin clair though.).

We started this journey with @meanwhilewineinc 8 years ago as a wine bar in Hamilton, ON. By the time it opened we had a few months of fun before the pandemic happened and we locked the doors on that bar for good. I simply didn’t want to pivot into something that wasn’t us. We parted ways with that chapter and I started a wine club, and then an import agency, so I could do something more sustainable in an uncertain time.

We’ve accomplished a lot throughout the years with lots of changes along the way. Very happy with every hit we took to get where we are today. Growing our sales team to 9 people, being able to travel the world with them, and work with some of my favorite people and producers has been incredible. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this whirlwind. by @kylewpaton

Just got back to Canada after a very quick trip to Champagne to celebrate Saint Vincent with Bereche, Pierre Peters, Savart, Chartogne Taillet and Montevertine at L’Assiette Champenois. Feeling super grateful for the community that we’ve built in Champagne (and of course the other regions we work in), investing time and energy into sharing not only our favourite wines in the world with Ontario, but having the chance to spend time with our friends that we also get the privilege to work with, is pure magic. At the core of what we do is business, but every single relationship we have is with people who we love, believe in, have shared meals with, and feel an overwhelming drive to support in any way we can. Thank you so much for the invitation, the hugs and the hospitality. Vive Champagne (and Toscana)! by @kylewpaton

Super inspiring visit with @currado_vietti_luca of @cascinapennacurrado in Barolo. It’s amazing seeing someone who is so established and well revered reinvent themselves and be able to explore with no constraints. You could feel the excitement even after all of these years pouring out of him through pure hospitality, and some incredibly pure and delicious wines. There are so many ambitious young producers in this region, it’s really beautiful to see the old guard still being young at heart and exploring alongside them to create a better future for the region. Thank you for sharing Luca.
