"This day is for all of us.

- Airyen, Kythe Cancer Survivor

For the past years, weโ€™ve been supporting Kythe Foundation through a program called โ€œAdopt a Patient.โ€

โ€‹Seeing these brave young warriors fight battles no child should ever have to face puts everything into perspective.
Many of the kids here are battling cancer and other chronic illnesses, and medical care and expensive treatments can quickly become overwhelming for their families.

โ€‹On their shirts, youโ€™ll read a message that stays with you: โ€œI help pediatric patients with cancer and chronic illness to learn, play, and grow even while they are confined in the hospital.โ€
That is what Kytheโ€™s Child Life Program is all aboutโ€”bringing childhood back into hospital rooms through emotional support, play therapy, and essential assistance.

โ€‹Through the Adopt a Patient program, ANYONE can step in and provide steady, year-round hope. By sponsoring a child yearly, you help cover vital treatments, diagnostic procedures, and psychosocial support so that financial constraints donโ€™t stand between a brave child and their chance at recovery.

โ€‹We recently gathered to host a special party and get-together, made possible alongside our fellow passionate Kythe volunteers. It was a day dedicated purely to letting these kids just be kidsโ€”playing games, bonding, sharing meals, and filling the room with smiles and laughter.

But more than that, we distributed Bible devotionals, shared Bible study stories, and prayed for everyone in small groups and shared the good news about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. โค๏ธ

โ€‹(Note: We share these heartfelt moments with the full consent and permission of the brave kids and their parents, with the hope that by telling their stories, more hearts will open up to support them and their families.)

โ€‹The Lord blesses all of us in different ways, itโ€™s time to be a blessing to the kids. Send a direct message to @kythefoundation today to learn how you can adopt a patient or support their mission yearly. by @kythefoundation

As part of the celebration of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, patients and their families at the Philippine Childrenโ€™s Medical Center came together for a meaningful day centered on something that matters in every childโ€™s journey: nutrition and nourishment. ๐Ÿฒ

Through the joint initiative of the PCMC Cancer and Hematology Division, Nutrition and Dietetics Division, and Philippine Cancer Center, our young warriors and their families learned that healthy eating can still be creative and delicious!

The guest chef whipped up a healthy chicken sandwich paired with kamote tops juice, with our kids joining in the preparation and, of course, enjoying the yummy and healthy creations afterwards! And the food didnโ€™t stop there! The generous food partners also treated the families to coffee, ice cream, taho, healthy snacks, and lunch food packs for everyone to enjoy. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Through an educational skit, the common eating challenges during chemotherapy were creatively presented, as well as simple ways to respond, like offering small, frequent meals when appetite is low, instead of forcing a child to eat.

And because no one understands the journey quite like another parent, a fellow mom also shared her own experiences and some easy, healthy, warrior-approved recipes that are sure to be family favorites!

It was a morning filled with learning, laughter, yummy bites, and shared stories.

These smiles carry stories of courage, perseverance, and hope. Every child we celebrated at Graduation Day 2026 has walked through difficult days, countless treatments, and moments that demanded extraordinary strength.

This #NationalMentalHealthMonth, we join the Philippine Mental Health Association in calling for a culture where mental health is understood, valued, and cared for.

For children and families facing illness, the journey can bring not only physical challenges, but also fear, uncertainty, and emotions that can be difficult to express.

Together, letโ€™s create spaces where every child feels safe to speak, play, feel, and simply be themselves. Letโ€™s listen without judgment, offer support without hesitation, and remind one another that no one has to face difficult moments alone. ๐Ÿค—

May we strengthen our minds, nurture our well-being, and look after one another. ๐Ÿซ‚

This #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth, the Kythe ChildLife Team turned awareness into action. On September 11, the team conducted Pocketful of ChildLife Training at the Hematology and Oncology Unit of Philippine Childrenโ€™s Medical Center (PCMC), led by Kythe ChildLife Manager Carol Tongco, ChildLife Officer for Luzon Hospitals Mye de Jesus, and Child Life Coordinators Isha Anino, Camille Calda, and Charm Mercado. ๐ŸŽ—

The session brought together doctors, nurses, social workers, patient navigators, and other healthcare providers to deepen their understanding of ChildLife and its role in supporting pediatric patients and their families. ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿงธ

Participants also learned about One Voice, a practice in which one healthcare provider communicates during procedures and treatments to reduce confusion and ensure clear, coordinated communication with the child and family.

Each participant received a Pocketful of ChildLife Kit filled with practical tools and resources for daily interactions with pediatric patients. The kits offer simple yet meaningful ways to promote coping, reduce anxiety, and create more positive healthcare experiences. ๐ŸŒˆ

Through initiatives like this, healthcare providers can become Kythe ChildLife partnersโ€”working alongside the ChildLife Team to help children and families feel more prepared, supported, and empowered during medical care. This marks the first of many Pocketful of ChildLife trainings to come.

Kythe Foundation is deeply honored to have joined the meaningful celebration of the courage and resilience of our pediatric cancer patients on September 15 at the National Childrenโ€™s Hospital, who have completed their chemotherapy treatments. ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ””

This milestone is a testament to their bravery, perseverance, and unwavering hope. Every hospital visit, every difficult day, and every sacrifice made along the way has brought them to this beautiful moment. We also honor not only the completion of their treatment, but the smiles, stories, shared moments, and simple joys that have carried them through every step of their journey.

Hereโ€™s to brighter days, bigger dreams, and many more milestones to come. โ˜€๏ธ

At just six years old, Myrtle is already facing a battle few children ever have to endure. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Myrtle was diagnosed with Extrarenal Rhabdoid Tumor, a rare and aggressive type of cancer. According to her mother, Charlene, Myrtleโ€™s doctors shared that the condition is extremely rare, with only about 1% of cases reported worldwide.

Myrtle was also the first known case at Philippine Childrenโ€™s Medical Center.
Their journey has been filled with difficult battles. One of the hardest was losing Myrtleโ€™s left arm, a painful sacrifice made in the fight to save her life. Yet through every challenge, Myrtle and her family continue to hold on to hope. ๐ŸŽ—

โ€œI am proud of my daughter,โ€ Charlene shares, while also expressing her admiration for every child and person bravely fighting cancer. For Charlene, hope remains their greatest strength. She believes that even the things that seem impossible can become possible when they continue to hold on and trust in God.๐Ÿ™

Myrtle still has battles ahead, but her story reminds us that courage is not about having an easy journeyโ€”it is about continuing to fight, one day at a time.

Keep fighting, Myrtle. We are rooting for you! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿค—
