Hi 👋🏻 I’m Lauren, and have been a Specialist Orthodontist for 9 years at Milngavie Orthodontics. I specialise treating children and adults with invisalign and fixed braces. I love helping people feel confident about their smile. Feel free to have a look at my work and if you have an enquiry or wish to have a consultation then feel free to get in touch. ⭐ by @la_orthodontics

‼️ ‼️ DEMINERALISATION (white scarring on the teeth) ⛔️ ⛔️

It’s important to share the stuff we wish we didn’t need to, this patient had to have their braces removed early because the braces and teeth were not being looked after. The patient had been told repeatedly to

AVOID

⛔️ Fizzy (carbonated juice), fruit juice and sugar in tea/coffee
⛔️ frequent sugar intakes (I.e grazing or snacking on sugar treats…. Put it this way, it’s kinder to your teeth to drink the juice in one-go as opposed to sipping it throughout the day)

We told them to
✅ brush 2x daily with an adult (1500ppm) toothpaste
✅ spit not rinse
✅ plain milk and water between meals
✅ use an interbrace brush to clean the plaque away around the brackets.

Treatment options now 🌟
AVOID
⛔️ high strength fluoride toothpaste (like duraphat) this will cause the lesions to remineralise too quickly on the surface and could lead to occult caries

Good advice
✅ tooth mousse in the retainers at night
✅ normal 1500ppm toothpaste

And go to your dentist to have the caries treated !!!!

(The sad part of my job is reinforcing these messages and then advice not being taken, so the braces are removed). We would rather healthy teeth than unhealthy decayed teeth! 😭 #milngavieorthodontics by @la_orthodontics

✨ FEAR TO FEARLESS! ✨

This incredible patient came to me terrified of braces — but look at that smile now! 🙌

No teeth removed. No shortcuts. Just careful planning, teamwork, and trust. 💪

I love creating beautiful, healthy smiles without extractions whenever possible — we planned this carefully to ensure we could get that canine in. 😁

The best part? Watching this patient go from nervous to absolutely confident! 🌟

👏 So proud of you — you did it!

This was an article I had written when I was expecting baby number 2 for @scottishdental magazine about #maternity in #orthodontics. Unfortunately, it’s still an on-going issue for women in the specialty in Scotland. @bosbraces #equalityindentistry by @la_orthodontics

Throw 🔙 to 8 years ago and the #scottishdental awards. Definitely not in this category anymore 👵🏼 👵🏼 😂😂 such a fun night! 🥳🤩 #scottishdentalawards by @la_orthodontics

This case required space analysis and careful planning. The overbite was deep and it was a complicated case.

➡️ Functional appliances during growth to get as much anchorage as possible
➡️ Overbite correction to ensure stability of the case and end result
➡️ Extractions to create space

The final result 🤩 it was a tough one 😮‍💨 by @la_orthodontics

This case looks like it should be a traditional orthodontic extraction case. But that’s not what I wanted…

As a Specialist, I understand where we need to extract and where it would be detrimental.

🚫 No teeth were removed for this case

🤩 Class I buccal segments 🙌🏻🫶🏻
