During #USCHA2025, our incredible Chair @laadyv1 delivered these remarks to a room full of researchers who sat up, took notice, & applauded her courage for setting them straight about what it means to be in #HIV care:

“I’ve had doctors tell me, ‘Sometimes patients don’t know what they’re talking about.’

First of all, I’m not your patient. I’m a grown ass woman. And this is not a partnership. I’m the chair of the board. And it’s my decision.”

In the face of growing political and social threats, Black-led nonprofits serve as a vital line of defense against policies that seek to erode our humanity, culture, and dignity. This 90-minute virtual think tank, hosted by BSR, will bring together nonprofit staff, board members, volunteers, and community supporters for a robust conversation on mobilizing collective action. With government actions and a hostile segment of the populace working to undermine Black communities, the time to respond is now. Will we stand by and allow history to repeat itself? Or will we harness our collective strength to push back? Join BSR for a dynamic and solutions-driven discussion featuring two compelling speakers who will explore how Black nonprofits can lead the charge in safeguarding Black health, wealth, and future.
