“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.” 🌟 Making public art with mosaic tiles is what we do, but centering social justice and community voices is why we do it. These four planters from our Martin Luther King Jr. series are a direct product of community engagement and collective power, created in beautiful collaboration with The @glassrootsinc Public Art Team & @nwk_sustainable 🙌 The final works will be relocated to their forever home soon. Stay tuned to see where they land! ❤️‍🔥 #MosaicArt #PublicArt #SocialJusticeArt #CommunityEngagement #newarkarts by @labusybee
Garden of Hope: From Glass Shards to Social Change 🌸✨ 🌿 The magic is moving from the @glassrootsinc studio to the streets! I am beyond excited to finally share a look at the Public Art Projects we’ve been pouring our hearts into. We are officially in installation mode! 🛠️✨ What you’re seeing here is just the first 10ft of a massive 20ft Glass Mosaic Mural. The Story Behind the Shimmer: The Garden of Hope mural isn’t just about beauty—it’s about a message. It celebrates the vibrant local flora and fauna of Newark while shining a necessary light on the injustice of food insecurity. This is truly a “by the public, for the public” project. It’s proof that community art is one of the most powerful tools we have for raising awareness and demanding social change. ✊🏽 Community Power: A huge shoutout to the NJIT students who joined us! Their motivation and talent were next level—they picked up the craft so quickly and helped bring this vision to life. I feel so incredibly blessed to lead these projects alongside the amazing @mamabuggs 🐞❤️✨ & Michelle Knox ❤️‍🔥🌸 📍 Where: @newarksas ✨ Full Reveal: I’ll be sharing the final installed piece in late June. Stay tuned! #PublicArt #NewarkArts #GlassMosaic #CommunityArt #mosaicmural by @labusybee

We are now on our next project this semester with The Garden of hope 🪴I’ll post more about that this week 😬🙊 #moasicarts #mosaicartist #publicart #community #mosaicportrait #portraits #newarkarts by @labusybee
Art has the power to tell stories, bring people together, and transform the places we share. 🎨💚 This International Artists Day, we’re celebrating the creativity and community connections behind the new Stories of MLK Boulevard Staircase Mural in Newark, NJ. Led by KAB affiliate @keepnewarkbeautiful and supported in part by a Keep America Beautiful MLK Corridor Community Grant, the project brought local artists, residents, and volunteers together to create a vibrant public space honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and the stories of the community. A special thank you to artists Patricia Arias Reynolds, and Kaishon Way for helping bring this vision to life—and to the community members who contributed their time, talents, and stories. Watch to see how art is helping turn a shared space into something beautiful! 🎥: @labusybee #KeepAmericaBeautiful #DoBeautifulThings #InternationalArtistsDay #KeepNewarkBeautiful #KABAffiliate by @labusybee
Working with @Shaonoah on another successful mosaic install at @glassrootsinc in the new flat shop🔥 This piece was created for the Unity Mural at American History High School, made in collaboration with the incredible Rutgers Future Scholars Summer Creators and GlassRoots! Being a dreamer isn’t a choice—it’s a commitment to your own journey. 🔥🔥🔥 “I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’” Although in these times we often feel deeply that we are not treated as equals, as artists, we rise up to challenge that through our work and creative practice. I’m truly honored to be a part of Stories of MLK Boulevard alongside two incredible of artists. @mohawudu @kaishon_ ⭐️ A special shoutout to the crew who came out to support the vision, and to every community member who sat with me and laid down pieces of glass. Every tile placed is a testament to our collective strength and hope. To the community members who stoped to share stories, concerns, and love this mural is for you. ✨ A big thank you to @keepnewarkbeautiful for continuing to love, honor, and uplift Newark. Together, we build, we honor, and we transform our community. Thank you to everyone for making this vision come alive♥️ #mosaicartist #MLKBoulevard #KeepNewarkBeautiful #CommunityArt #publicartist by @labusybee
