“Can I really do this?”

That’s the question @labzeroclub answers from day one. By prioritizing the “build” over abstract theory, they’re unlocking a massive appetite for technical learning in our community.

Science, tech, and sports are colliding in the best way possible.

Congratulations to our Student of the Day for Summer Session 1, Nyah Jennings!

Presented by @nixtaco, Nyah has been awarded a $50 gift card to the local Mexican kitchen 🌯

Summer Session 1 was a special event that featured a hands-on STEM workshop in collaboration with @labzeroclub, where athletes were invited to engage with computer systems used to study human performance in athletics.

Nyah was incredibly engaged throughout the workshop — providing thoughtful responses that inspired curiosity, reflection, and encouraged group participation and discussion.

In this session, our athletes learned how data from movement, reaction time, and biomechanics is collected, interpreted, and applied in sporting contexts. The result was a demonstration of how sports can be an entry point to STEM by grounding engineering and data concepts in movements students already understand: shooting, dribbling, reacting, and moving.

Introducing Lab Zero’s two newest projects as part of the ELEVATE Music Stream:

Elevate Studio 🎤🎧
Elevate Studio introduces students to brain-computer interfaces using EEG headsets. Students watch their brain activity in real time, then use Python and AI to explore how brain signals can be analyzed and transformed into an interactive music experience.

Wearable MIDI Glove 🧤🎹
The Wearable MIDI Glove introduces students to wearable technology by turning finger movements into music. Using flex sensors, an Arduino, and a simple program, students learn how sensors, electronics, and code work together to create a functional musical instrument. by @labzeroclub

Meet Omolivie Eboreime, one of our amazing Robotics instructors for the Zimbabwe session!

Omolivie graduated with a degree in Bioengineering from Harvard University, where she developed a nanoparticle therapeutic platform for treating sickle cell disease. She also contributed to an AI tool for predicting viral mutations to restructure the current diagnostic standard. She is especially passionate about sickle cell research as the disease disproportionately affects African communities, and during our panel at the Africa Science Buskers Festival, she shared how this impact continues to motivate her work. 👏 by @labzeroclub

This week we took the lab to Harare, Zimbabwe! 🇿🇼

We were honoured to be invited by @sciencebuskers to join the Africa Science Buskers Festival, celebrating a historic 10th anniversary of inspiring young scientists, engineers, and innovators across the continent.

The festival welcomed more than 700 students and educators in person, with over 2,000 participants joining online from across Africa and Asia.

A huge thank you to @knowledgechikundi, the entire Science Buskers team, partners like @broadcomfoundation, volunteers, and instructors.

Over the next few days we’ll be sharing more from the festival, including highlights from our amazing instructors and hands-on student projects! taken in Harare, Zimbabwe by @labzeroclub
