Today, on the 63rd anniversary of Remedios Varo’s passing, we remember and honor one of the most distinctive and influential voices of 20th-century Surrealism.

Among her dreamlike worlds, mysterious figures, and deeply symbolic imagery, Varo created a unique visual language that continues to captivate generations of viewers.

Roulotte, circa 1955, is currently on view at Latin Art Core in Miami.

WIFREDO LAM
Birds of Fire, 1970
Bronze and metal
Ed. of 500
10 x 4 x 6 in

The bird, a recurring motif in Lam’s work, takes on a powerful, hybrid, and almost totemic presence in these sculptures.
