But it does buy antiques… and that’s pretty close! 🤪

Because the light isn’t actually there… someone painted it. With their hands, their imagination, their feelings.

That will never not impress me. The way humans have used art for centuries to express what they see, what they feel, what they fear, what they love… and somehow leave a piece of themselves behind for people hundreds of years later to experience.

And light especially gets me. Because how do you paint something you can’t hold? How do you take a feeling, a moment, the way sunlight hits a face or comes through a window, and recreate it with pigment and a brush?
The light isn’t there. But somehow, you see it. You almost feel it.

This painting is by Knut Baade (1808–1879), a Norwegian Romantic painter known for making nature feel almost theatrical.

👉🏻What is it in a painting that always makes you stop and look a little longer? Tell me—I want to know. 👇

AI could never. A tiny brush, a steady hand, and three generations of knowing exactly what to do.

Every flower you see is painted by hand on the INSIDE of the glass, through that little opening at the top. I still can’t get over it.

Comment ORNAMENTS and I’ll send you the collection. Picking just one is your problem. 🤍

It’s just something I have been able to do since I was younger. Ask my mom 😝. Wish I could get paid for that talent. 🙄 No idea what the price is, but apparently I have excellent taste and a terrible budget.

👉🏻Send this to the friend you can’t afford to go antiquing with. 😂

We already collect china. Apparently, our Christmas tree needed its own collection. 😝🤭

I worked with a family of artisans in China to bring some of our favorite patterns to glass ornaments. They’ve been practicing this craft for three generations, painting each ornament by hand from the INSIDE through that tiny opening at the top.

Now I look at every little flower differently.

Choose the pattern you collect, the one your grandmother loved, or the one that makes you think, “Oh, she would LOVE this.”

Comment ORNAMENTS and I’ll send you the collection and ordering details, and a coupon code 😉🤍

The slides introduce a family of artisans practicing their craft for three generations and explain how they paint inside glass ornaments using a tiny bent brush through the top opening. The collection draws on china patterns including Blue Willow, Tobacco Leaf, and Rose Canton. I almost didn’t share this.

Because when you own a business, you get really good at sharing the wins and quietly figuring out the hard parts behind the scenes.

The last couple of years have humbled me more than I can explain.

There were moments I didn’t know what was next. I didn’t have some brilliant strategy. I was just paying attention, trying things, following little ideas and refusing to stop looking for another way.

A tumbler led me to China.

China led me to an artisan.

An artisan led me to an ornament.

And somehow, one small idea at a time, I started finding my way again.

I don’t know exactly what the next chapter looks like yet.

But I know one thing now that I didn’t know before:

I’m not afraid of having to build again.

Maybe that’s entrepreneurship.

Not knowing how the story ends, but trusting the person writing it.

If you’re in the middle of your own “what the hell do I do now?” season… keep going. 🤍
