How do I know if my baby is getting enough milk?

We hear this question SO often! Here are a few tips to know if your baby is getting enough milk:
Your baby’s stools will change during their first week of life. Here is what to look for:

Days 1 and 2: one or two dirty diapers/day (blackish and tarry looking)
Days 3 and 4: at least two dirty diapers/day ( green or yellow looking)
Days 5 to 7: at least three or four dirty diapers/day(yellow and loose looking)

- After your milk production increases, your baby will often have a dirty diaper after each feeding for the first month of their life.
- Six or more wet diapers/day (pale yellow or no color by day 5 or 7).
- Breastfeed 8 to 12 times every 24 hours

Most parents will make the amount of milk their baby needs. If you have concerns about your milk supply, milk production, or if your baby is getting enough milk, you can schedule an appointment with one of our trained lactation consultants! by @lactationlink

We must take action! It's the last day of Black Maternal Health Week, but it's definitely not the last day to build awareness of an issue that affects so many lives of black birthing people. We must always advocate for the elimination of maternal mortality globally.

This year's theme of “Restoring Black Autonomy and Joy” is needed to help black women become more of a voice in their birth experience and more of an advocate and participant in their healthcare decisions. You can continue this conversation through events found on blackmamasmatter.org.

No matter your birth plans, it’s important for all expecting parents to know what to expect following a cesarean delivery, and how to heal and recover afterward.

A cesarean section is a surgical procedure that can be an amazing, essential, and even life-saving delivery option, and in many cases, they improve the safety and wellbeing of women and babies. With the right tools in your recovery kit, you can protect your incision site wound, encourage healing, and minimize your scar tissue with a simple bandage system as you navigate life with a newborn.

Check out our website for more information on recovery and even get C-Section bandages for little to no cost through your insurance! by @lactationlink

It’s the start of Black Maternal Health Week #BMHW and Certified Lactation Consultant and Aeroflow Breastpumps Educator, Leteace, is here to share statistics about the current landscape of racial disparity in maternal health.

According to the CDC, black women are currently three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.

Founded as part of National Minority Health Month, the 6th annual BMHW focuses on the theme of empowering black mothers to make well-informed, autonomous, birth and health decisions about their bodies to achieve holistic wellness.

To learn more about BMHW, check out our full article on the Aeroflow Breastpumps blog (linkinbio).

BMHW runs April 11-17, so check back for more in the coming days! by @lactationlink

Between operating your pump, learning proper cleaning methods, and effective milk expression, there’s a lot involved to produce breast milk. (No wonder they call it liquid gold! 🍼)

On top of that, it’s important to know that you’re storing and reheating milk properly to insure that it’s safe for baby. Save and refer to this quick reference guide when you need to know how and where to store your breast milk, plus how long it will actually stay good for.

Aeroflow Breastpumps IBCLC, Leteace, is here to answer some of your most-asked questions! One thing most mamas want to know about is colostrum. What is it, when does your body start producing colostrum, and what are the benefits for baby?

Colostrum is your FIRST milk and it’s filled with proteins, vitamins, minerals, and antibodies that help to build your baby’s immune system. It is also easier for them to digest because it was made JUST for them. Typically, your colostrum will last between two and four days after birth. Then, your body begins to produce transitional milk.

National Working Moms Day was celebrated yesterday and we want to shout out all you hardworking mamas out there!

It's important that we support our moms in any way we can, whether they are teachers, doctors, stay-at-home moms, or even starting their own businesses. This also includes helping them reach their breastfeeding and pumping goals. Many working moms still face challenges such as lack of company policy, communication, and support related to maternity leave & workplace lactation benefits.

Taking care of your baby, including providing milk for your little one, should never be a challenge. Although we live in an imperfect world, we all strive to make it a better place. Let's all celebrate the working moms in our lives! by @lactationlink

Yes, even Kylie Jenner has suffered from postpartum depression....you're not alone! It's important to normalize postpartum symptoms that have a very real impact on new moms.

Dr. Madden says "There is stigma and shame surrounding postpartum depression, in large part, because mothers often believe there is something ‘wrong’ with them for getting postpartum depression and feeling unhappy when they have a new baby." Read more from her on healthline. Check out the link on our story.

It's important to reach out to your support system when needed and remember that you are never alone! by @lactationlink
