Look around when you’re out; Angelenos are everywhere on foot! 🚶🏽

In our latest Walk and Bike Count, walking was by far the top active travel choice in LA, logging 79,497 pedestrians across our corridors. This National Pedestrian Safety Month, let’s remember: streets are shared spaces and everyone walking deserves a safe journey home.
- Stay focused on the road.
- Slow down and follow the speed limit, especially around people on the street, near schools, and in neighborhoods where children are present.
- Always stop for pedestrians in crosswalks.

We’re starting Phase 2 on the Westwood Blvd Safety and Mobility Project! Based on your feedback, the updated design focuses on:

-Protected bike lanes
-Bus-only lanes
-Safer crosswalks for walking and rolling between UCLA and Metro stations

Your feedback shapes the final design. Share your thoughts in our story highlights! Busy urban intersection with pedestrians crossing and a bus approaching under clear blue sky. by @ladotofficial

Would you know what to do if an earthquake happened right now?

Today is Great #ShakeOut Day! It only takes a minute to practice the three steps that save lives when the ground starts shaking:

DROP to your hands and knees
COVER your head and neck under a sturdy table or desk
HOLD ON until the shaking stops

Preparedness starts with simple actions like this. Take a moment today to practice with your family or coworkers!

Red Flag No Parking restrictions will be in effect citywide starting tomorrow, Thursday October 15 at 6:00 am for at least 48 hours.

During Red Flag Parking Restriction periods, vehicles illegally parked in posted locations will be towed to help keep narrow roads and evacuation routes clear for residents and emergency vehicles.

Strong winds expected Thursday through Saturday and potential Santa Ana winds mean that the fire danger for Los Angeles is extreme. If you live in a brush fire danger area, please stay vigilant and sign up for emergency alerts at NotifyLA.org. We’ve heard your complaints and seen your memes, and now we’re getting to work. LADOT is reconfiguring the intersection of Hollywood Blvd/Hillhurst Ave/Sunset Blvd/Virgil Ave/Sunset Dr!

Our proposed design eliminates Sunset Dr from the intersection, adds a crosswalk from Sunset Blvd to Hollywood Blvd, and closes the gap between the Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd bike lanes.

Now we want your feedback! Take our project survey at the link in our stories and let us know your thoughts. taken in Los Feliz by @ladotofficial

Two days later, and we’re STILL riding high from Sunday!

Thank you to everyone who walked, biked, skated, and rolled with us through @CicLAvia - Heart of LA. Nothing beats seeing Angelenos reclaim our streets, connect with neighbors, and transform public spaces into vibrant, people-first spaces.
