My new favorite hat is a love letter to farm yarn.
The most beautiful worsted weight natural color Shetland yarn from @wingandaprayerfarm which is about an hour from me.
Farmer Tammy is a magical being who cares for her flock and garden with a rugged determination that also prioritizes beauty and creativity. In a small space, she makes the most of her diverse breeds and their fleece as well as a rainbow of natural dyes.
It is a pleasure to work with this fiber, knowing that these sheep and I walk the same hills. I can’t explain it but I had a lot of capital F feelings while making this, especially on the heels of my trip to Rhinebeck, which filled my heart with awe for our woolly community.
If you don’t have a Tammy nearby, I urge you to check out the cool farm stand near you and if they have their own yarn, give it a whirl. Clothing is agriculture! Local is everything!
The pattern is a free one from @dererumnatura and is called the “gwedenn” hat. 🐑❤️🐑 by @lady.busyhands

Vaddel scarf! All finished in time for Rhinebeck! This was a joy to make.
If you see me around @awoolenaffair tomorrow or @nysheepwool Saturday please say hi!

WIP Wednesday! A new cast on, @midori_hirose_knit White Mountains Sweater in @harrisvilledesigns highland in the color Teak. I love love love the shaping already and I can tell it’s going to be a long wearing staple garment.
I also love knitting German short rows. Anyone else? by @lady.busyhands

My beautiful healed tattoo from @mayacalypsotattoo
If you’re going, you can see her at @awoolenaffair this weekend 💙🐑
My friend and I named this gal “Ewenice” by @lady.busyhands

Nocturnal Sweater with lots of mods for kid sizing!
I cast on the same amount of stitches as the smallest size and added some short rows at the neck. I also figured out how wide I needed my final yoke at sleeve separation and only increased throughout the yoke accordingly. I omitted one motif and slightly changed another for the look and also to flow within my stitch count at that point. A very fun math project.
Gracie loves the finished sweater and I hope 🤞 it’ll fit for another year, there’s certainly a bit of ease in the fit.
Hooray spooky season and thanks @saskieco for a great pattern! I want one in my size. by @lady.busyhands

Vermont is vermonting pretty hard right now.
Cherrywood Pullover by @savoryknitting in natural black Lopi yarn. I love the fit of this sweater and how “hairy” it is. The textures of the yoke pop in the a lovely way. by @lady.busyhands

These stitches just soaking up the early autumn sun and making me happy.
Vaddel neckerchief from Shetland Shades by @gudrunjohnston and knit in @jamiesonsofshetland spindrift by @lady.busyhands

Birch, Eesit, Hairst, Old Gold, Cosmos and also Vaddel.
Even though I’m missing @shetlandwoolweek I’m so happy to have a little piece of Shetland here in VT.
I’ll be casting on the Vaddel neckerchief from @gudrunjohnston new book Shetland Shades. I loved test knitting Gudrun’s Vaddel sweater so much, I can’t wait to get into the rhythm of those slip stitches again. by @lady.busyhands

Sometimes you need a dopamine blast and this sweater delivers.
My #vaddelsweater by @gudrunjohnston in @harrisvilledesigns Shetland and @jamiesonsofshetland Spindrift. by @lady.busyhands

Felix cardigan and Ghost Flowers scarf together. Both of these designs are by @savoryknitting and I didn’t realize until I was driving into work. The sweater is my first cardigan and I finished the scarf just this spring. #wearyourknits by @lady.busyhands
