I love going to rehearsal spaces and trying out my song ideas! It helps me get a sense of how I like the tempo/key/feeling, and then I get to mess around with different drum ideas. The music you’re hearing I wrote as sheet music/am playing through musescore (!!) because sometimes I get so far into the weeds of production in Ableton that I lose sight of getting things like the song structure right and that was happening big time with this track. I love the production for it though! You’re just not hearing any of it in this video. 🥲 i was also trying to get a hang of singing with inner ears! It’s really hard. 🙃 then I got on the drums and tried some new ideas, so naturally I’m now rewriting everything with a new groove in mind. 😅 by @ladyrelinquish

Sure the timing is woeful, but I’m teaching myself and I feel amazing every time I play. :D Gotta figure out how to bootleg a drum kit so I can get practice in more often than every 6 weeks. D:
If you wanna listen to the song, it’s Forever by Chvrches. No matter how many times I listen to the pre-chorus, I cannot figure out the notation for the toms - maybe you can? :D
I have in-ear monitors in so I can to listen to the song (and protect my ears) as I play, for anyone who’s new to all of this and wondering how it all works.
I’m so used to playing piano solo and stretching out or speeding up the timing to suit the emotion of the song - so this kind of precision is a whollllle new discipline for me. by @ladyrelinquish

this is trash. I didn’t get enough footage. I made the music! I started writing a new pop song last night on piano, and this is the production sort of idea for the vibe of it. Next steps I’ll flesh out the chords, add vocals. I might have to speed it up and make it less experimental for it to work, but we’ll see. by @ladyrelinquish
