oh april what a gift you were.

i’ve tried to write a poem about how swiftly four weeks became my remedy - but I can’t seem to find the words… likely because I need not dress them up or down, and say it exactly as it is:

april saved a part of me I had hid away for far too long - the part of me that sees things in techni-colour; the part of me that is stitched from fragments of the people I adore; the part of me that wears that patchwork proudly -

the part of me that is all of me.

so, I’ve spent the last 4 weeks listening to my gut, listening to feeling & making decisions based on my heart - and at every corner she’s said: “spend time with those who make you feel ALIVE”

and that’s exactly what i’ve done (/tried to do).

i’m imperfect, have likely overextended myself in this way too, and think time is a construct i’m fighting with - so I wish there were MORE time, to fill with MORE people (because trust & believe I consider myself infinitely blessed to have an exponential pool of incredible humans that fit the bill)… and I still haven’t been able to give as much as I’d like to everyone who crosses my mind (criminal) 🫂

But that’s what’s makes connection precious; energy is finite, as is time. So being present in these moments, with these people has been the key to a joy i’d forgotten about… so for that reminder I am DEEPLY grateful.

All to say, that in ways I’d not been honest with before, i’m really trying… which is more than I can say i’ve done for a large majority of my life.

Having been addicted to connection in wake of such prolonged disconnect, i’ve been a bright light who now feels the need for a candle-like existence - however I vow to continue prioritising those who make me feel alive; you are all the greatest gift I could look to receive 🫀🫂

enjoy this random string of non-contextual moments that make me feel warm, fuzzy, inspired, grateful & proud - but know it only scratches the surface 🥹🦋

(p.s. if you feel like you are in a world of disconnect right now, come home to where your heart lives… it won’t seem easy, but I promise it is <3)

and instead of said cerebral sabotage, I decided to compile a quick succession of things from my camera roll that make me smile - to remind myself that I actually have a hell of a lot to smile about…

Trust me, I know sometimes it is rather difficult to practice gratitude whilst in a bad headspace - likely because you need to feel the yuckiness first - but upon allowing yourself to feel said yuckiness, giving yourself that space you really really need to get through it - gratitude is a powerful tool in your arsenal of weapons against a persistently pessimistic mindset & bullying brain - dare I suggest, if you feel the same, you give it a try <3
