Area Officer Training…but with cereal ?!

This AOT was cereal-sly (seriously) a blast ! I’m beyond grateful to know each and every one of these officers ! We had the best time throughout AOT team building, sitting in on workshops, planning conferences, and most importantly EATING CEREAL !! Can’t wait to see what each of these officer teams have planned for this year ! Look out LAFFA !!!

State Officer Summit 2026 !

The memories made at Summit are ones I’ll carry with me for a long time. From the adventures, endless laughs, and late-night McDonald’s runs to the incredible people I had the privilege of meeting in Washington, D.C., every moment made this experience unforgettable. Thank you to everyone who made this week so special, and a huge thank you to National FFA for creating an opportunity I’ll always cherish. I already miss it more than I can put into words, but I’m incredibly grateful to have experienced something so meaningful that it’s worth missing. It was also a pretty great way to spend my birthday… 10/10 would recommend celebrating with McDonald’s fries and FFA friends in D.C. 🎉

Area III Leadership Camp !!!

Area 3 you did NOT disappoint ! The time we had was a time I’ll never forget. You brought energy, laughter, and the best memories. We truly lived this camp up. Thank you for all of the connections we made and for making this last leadership camp the best it could’ve possibly been. Can’t wait to see you all again hopefully sooner than later ! Don’t forget to keep cooking up those connections !!

It’s hard to truly describe the feelings I felt throughout this camp. I had the honor of making so many new connections as well as rekindling and embracing old ones. Seeing those members and advisors who truly started to make my place of serenity what it was brought so much joy, peace, and clarity. Area 1 & 2 Leadership Camp was one of the many things that made me realize I made the right choice for my future and picked the right place to embrace my passion. Being back and seeing that same passion in others brought a light and warmth to my heart. Area 1 & 2, thank you for all that you have done for me. AREA IV LEADERSHIP CAMP !!

Area IV we had A TIME ! You brought so much energy and so many memories that I’ll forever hold onto ! Thank you for making this experience one to remember ! Forever grateful to have this opportunity and share it with all of you. I met so many amazing new friends and built connections i’ll never forget ! You went above and beyond to set the standard. I can’t wait to hopefully see all of you again sooner than later !

HEY THERE LAFFA ! My name is Kayla Gooden and I am beyond grateful and excited to be serving as your 2026-2027 Louisiana State Vice President representing Area II !!

This next year will be my 4th year in FFA as well as my senior year of high school at DeRidder High ! While being in FFA, I have had the chance to take on and learn countless agricultural, professional, and life skills through Parliamentary Procedure, Extemporaneous Speaking, Livestock Judging, and my personal favorite, Poultry Evaluation. Poultry was actually the first contest I ever did when I joined FFA. 🐓👀

Though being an active FFA member has become a major part of my life, I still do my best to stay active not only in my school, but also in my community. I am currently in NHS, Student Council, Beta Club,FCA, and I am the basketball manager for DeRidder’s High School Boys Basketball Team. I also currently serve on the City of DeRidder’s Mayor’s Youth Council as the Parliamentarian.

Being apart of this organization has helped me continue to find myself, my community, and my purpose. I want to extend the utmost gratitude and appreciation for everyone who helped make this happen. As I take on this year of service Louisiana FFA, I strive to bring forth positivity, connection, growth, discovery, and transformation. I plan to not only teach, but learn from each and everyone of you !! We have quite a year ahead of us LAFFA !! I CAN’T WAIT !!

I am as human as anyone…” -Superman

Four years ago I walked into Tioga High Schools Ag department, searching for friends, searching for comfort, searching for a place I belonged. But I never thought that classroom, would be a place that I called home. For the last 4 years i’ve had the honor and the privilege to wear a blue corduroy jacket, and as I hang up my jacket for the final time, I realized how blessed I have been not only to be apart of this organization, but to serve it. Not only did it give me friends and memories that will last a lifetime, but it gave me a place to grow; A place to grow my passions, a place to grow my skills, and most importantly a place to grow my “why”.
Two years ago when I decided to run for Area office, my advisors both asked me, “why?” Something I had never been asked or even thought about before, and it wasn’t until about 2 months into my State officer year that I found my true “why”.
Superman once said “I am as human as anyone, I love. I get scared. I wake up each day and despite not knowing what to do I put one foot in front of the other because I am human and that is my greatest strength.” Through out my life I was always trying to please others, whether it was a sport I played, a club I joined, or a grade I made, I was determined to be everyone’s hero. and it wasn’t until this year, when I heard this quote that I realized even superheroes are human. I spent years of my life exhausted and stressed out just for that weight to be lifted off of me in an instant. That’s when I found it. I wanted to be that person to show others they are human. They can make mistakes, they can fail tests, they can lose a contest, but that doesn’t mean they are not good enough. I wanted to be the someone that I so desperately needed.
To everyone who has been a part of my journey, friends, family, teachers, teammates; I don’t think words will ever express how grateful I am, every one of you have made these past 4 years unforgettable and I cannot thank you enough.
