Install view of my film showing at @notfair_artfair …a refracted and abstracted excerpt from short film, Celestial Bodies. I’ve found the best trick to loop film on an Eiki projector is to use one with broken or removed belts - this means the two reels won’t spin or try to take up the film or push the film through. The only things moving the film are the sprockets. The take up reel, when spinning, pushes the film along to create too much feed, risking a jam when the slack disappears upon the film exiting the projector. #16mm #16mmfilm #filmloop #analog #analoguefilmprojection #16mmprojector #analogprojector #eiki #projectionart by @laglina

A massive thank you to the inimitable and evocative writer, Edward Colless for his writing about my artistic work in the most recent issue of @artcollectormagazine I met Ted through the Victorian College of Arts and immediately appreciated his rebellious approach to art and his endless search for the illusive phantasms that taunt our senses and souls, plunged amidst us if we only could see them. ...Ted sees them, and he delights in bringing forth these apparitions for others to momentarily glimpse the uncanny, otherworldly, and strange emergent abjections of the world - a sleuth of the darkness, he peers wide eyed. I'm so lucky to have found him - thank you @countzero666 !! 👻 👺 👽 Ever grateful to Helen Frajman @m.33_melbourne who has become a beautiful friend since I moved to Melbourne and who helped me to pick out the images for the piece with her skillfull publishing eye and deft impulses toward images that evoke and stir something in us. Please pick up your copy of Art Collector magazine if you have the chance - this quarterly issue focuses on 'Undiscovered and Underrated' artists. I am thrilled to have been included. I'm currently working on two new projects - a (haunting) immersive expanded cinema installation & a short film of celestial navigation/celestial bodies/body as a place of resonance... both inspired by the sky and sea - two bodies that will never touch...of which I have the @centreforprojectionart and @room40shoots to thank for their ongoing support to continue on 🔮 🎱 📽 Later this year, I'll also present a new erotic apparition alongside @argento6 for @marsgallery 's screening room. In December I will be heading to Vietnam, and here is an invitation to researchers, filmmakers, and anyone who works within the symposium threads of interest, to join in. The Weight of Mountains Symposium is happening this December 10, 11, and 12. Link in bio...call for abstracts closes 5 October, 2026. I will be heading there to develop deeper insights and ideas into the tropical gothic aesthetic which I've drawn on already from my upbringing in the tropics. I'll be workshopping the beginning of an experimental feature-length film (on 16mm film of course!). Ten years later in Australia, at a concert, I had a visceral experience of synaesthesia that evoked a deep nostalgia manifest as homesickness. This film is a poetic memory, as time moves further from it. * On a societal level, there are nods in this film toward the Industrial Revolution and its passage over time, identity of place through industry and religion, architecture, nature, and our collective abstracted deterioration of memory of those things.
