THE STORIES WE TELL. THE CONVERSATIONS WE START.

September is a time to deepen conversations around mental health and suicide prevention.

Through Signs of Silence, we are telling stories that explore grief, loneliness, rejection, emotional isolation and the struggles people often carry in silence.

These are not just stories for the screen. They reflect real experiences that, when left unspoken and unsupported, can become overwhelming and, for some, contribute to suicidal thoughts and suicide.

At the Lagos Art & Health Festival, our films became the starting point for a beautiful and honest conversation with audiences and a mental-health expert.

This is why we believe storytelling can be a powerful tool for social change.

Our stories create the space to see, feel, reflect, speak and listen.

Because the film ends, but the conversation doesn’t.

I still can’t believe it’s been six months already.

Six months of making room for each other, and an evening that left me completely enveloped in gratitude.

A very special thank you to my friend, @myfriendscallmebigenyi, founder of @lagoskpoetics, who ended up hosting the evening. You held the room so beautifully. ❤️

Thank you @lahfestival, for having us as part of the festival. Thank you @elpadrino.ng, for giving us your space and making room for this gathering. Thank you @satfarmsng, for keeping us refreshed with your fruit juices. Thank you @yadichinma, festival director who also completed the evening with her presence and help.

Thank you @thenutsco, for the snacks that added to our evening.

Thank you @terrencewarebebe, for capturing these moments.

And to every writer, poet, musician, comedian, and storyteller who shared their work with us, thank you for trusting the room with your art.

Can’t wait to gather again. 🫶 by @lahfestival

Lagos Arts & Health Festival 2026 Day 1 Highlights

Opening Ceremony at Quintessence Art Gallery, Ikoyi

Day 1 of the Lagos Arts & Health Festival 2026 unfolded with depth, energy, and intention as the Opening Ceremony held by invitation only welcomed partners, artists, practitioners, policymakers, and cultural leaders to Quintessence Art Gallery, Ikoyi. The evening marked the official beginning of the festival’s second edition and set a powerful tone for the four‑day city‑wide celebration.

The ceremony opened with the festival’s guiding theme, Lagos as a Body, inviting guests to reflect on Lagos as a living organism shaped by movement, memory, labour, culture, and care. This framing became the heartbeat of the night, grounding every experience in the idea of collective wellbeing.

A central highlight was the unveiling of ORI II, the signature exhibition inspired by the Yoruba wisdom “Ori l’onisègùn ara” the head is the healer of the body. Presented as a contemplative journey, ORI II shifted attention to the head not only as anatomy but as the meeting point of thought, memory, awareness, and the subtle forms of health we often overlook.

The Opening Ceremony became a gathering of visionaries artists, musicians, health practitioners, researchers, mental health leaders, cultural leaders, educators, creative entrepreneurs, poets, and young innovators each contributing to the evolving landscape of creative health in Lagos.

Inspired by the Global South Arts & Health initiatives, The festival’s leadership acknowledged the partnership of Quintessence for the Day 1, endorsement of the Lagos State Government, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and celebrated the collaborative force behind LAHF2026: the Global Arts in Medicine Fellowship, Studio Yadi, Foladavid Foundation, Uwana Energy, and numerous organisations and practitioners across Lagos.

Thanks to the 2026 LAHF Leadership Team, Advisors, distinguished guests, facilitators, festival team, performing artistes, speakers and Lagosians for a beautiful evening.

Recap | Lagos Arts & Health Festival 🎨✨

What if Lagos could speak, what would it say?

We joined the conversation at the Lagos Arts & Health Festival for “If Lagos Could Speak, What Would It Say?” a creative writing workshop exploring Lagos through stories, experiences and different perspectives.

For Scientifically Speaking, it was an opportunity to engage with the community, listen to different perspectives and explore the connections between creativity, health, wellbeing and the way we understand our city.

Here’s a glimpse of how the day went. 🎥✨

Snippets from the closing day of the Lagos Arts & Health Festival @lahfestival themed: : “Lagos as a Body – Creative Care in Action”.

I gave the advisory board reflections at the opening and contributed to the panel discussion on ‘Lagos as a Heart: Care, Connection, Circular Innovation and Social Healing’ at the closing. We discussed various topics including Early Childhood and Family, Gender, Financing, Mental Health and Healing amongst other topics. I emphasised the importance of Lagos thriving on connections and the importance of playing our parts as arteries within the heart of Lagos. Was happy to engage with our awesome contributing panelists and join the collaborative painting.

Congratulations @yadichinma and the team on the implementation. And my gratitude to our leader @drkunleadewale for building on the cause & @uptown_oyinda for the excellent moderation. 🙏🏽

Photos loading, thank you Gidi. 💚🤍💚

Lagos as Body, Creative Care in Action!
This theme for the 2nd edition of the Lagos Art and Health Festival is a reminder to us all, to tap into those holistic arty skills to ease our mind for the body to thrive.
It’s my pleasure to facilitate The Art of Tie and Dye with Shimmers once again to teach the basics of making beautiful wearable art from plain fabrics.
A skill that not only puts money in pockets, but also helps still chaotic minds, and brings utmost satisfaction when each piece becomes a creative masterpiece.
Special shout out to @inbloom.space for being the perfect host. Kindly follow them for many more activities that will take place in their space, from artistic residencies to art and diy craft making and so much more.

Thank you @lahfestival for this initiative to serve and congratulations on a highly impactful and successful festival.
