First appearing as an abstract weave which mimics the ebb and flow of water, Inez embodies the mystery of the ocean: held in the right light, a swirl of kelp fronds will appear as though emerging from the undersea haze itself.

The moon recedes, and pulls the sea back with it. What’s left behind? Those undulating sand-ribs, hard under the arch of your feet as you scuff them, walking barefoot. Sand pipers and plovers make their way across the beach, plucking at what the tide has left on the shore. They find life in its myriad forms.

Introducing Luna, inspired by the soft, light touch of the moon.

Introducing Bowie, one of our five new sheer fabrics woven of natural fibers in Los Angeles. Inspired by the interplay between the loose fabric ground, almost like a fisherman’s net, and a sheen of velvety chenille stripe, Bowie is the play of light on water.

Sabella shifts quietly like the sea floor, all sea dusters and anemones – dizzying,
microscopic cnidarian life scattered like flowers over the seabed. These organisms are
minute but essential to the thriving and infinite life underwater. They are tricksters, too,
constantly changing how they look from one moment to the next to give their predators
the slip. Sabella gives material expression to this illusionism, shifting when draped and
appearing anew when viewed in different lights.

Gael simplifies sun and wave into benthic geometry. It is a hazy recollection, more felt than remembered, of lying against the soft warmth of sand while looking out over the glittering surface of the sea.

Something new.

Introducing a collection of sheer and semi-sheer fabrics whose patterns tell stories of ocean life and whose movement and drape conjures the interplay of light amid water and sun.

These fabrics are a multisensory experience: they sway and shift, transforming in sunlight and shadow. Some are textured like rocks worn down over time by the tides, some are soft as smooth sand.

Collectively, they embody the fleeting moments of clarity in the shifting water of the coastline, as patterns arise and then disappear depending on how and where the light passes through the weave.

Each fabric was woven of natural fibers at the historic LA Mills in Los Angeles.

This collection was designed as much by me as by the brilliant team at LA Mills, who translated my drawings of suns and sea creatures into woven constructions that dreamed into being each pattern in ways I could not have done on my own.

5 new fabrics, 21 total colorways: available now on our website and through our showroom partners.

Gradually the magic of the island settled over us as gently and clingingly as pollen. Each day had a tranquillity, a timelessness, about it, so that you wished it would never end. But then the dark skin of night would peel off and there would be a fresh day waiting for us, glossy and colourful as a child’s transfer and with the same tinge of unreality.
