many, many stars aligned for my final day in london, and i was able to make a pilgrimage to derek jarman's prospect cottage today, despite a night of repeated nightmares of left-side driving gone wrong. thank you to @badshall for connecting me to @j.bruce.garden who directed us through a day of tending garden, planting winter-blooming irises and Ulex europaeus (Gorse), eating fish sandwiches and communing with the shingle out on the edge of the world. I will never forget the wind and the crunch of the stone beneath my feet. 💖 by @lambtime

My family lost everything in the Eaton Fire this week. They are safe and sound thanks to the gracious help of those around us. They are very fortunate and are not asking for any monetary support at this time. However, I am trying to help my dad recover something humongous that he lost in the fire - thousands of cacti and succulents, and along with that, the joy that caring for those plants brought to his life. If you or anyone you know can contribute a plant, a cutting, a pot, a stone, whatever, please let me know. We want to get him back on his feet and growing plants again. Thanks to everyone who has already reached out asking how they can help my family - this is it! The link to the website with more information is in my bio, please share far and wide. At the recommendation of the lovely @etoshamoh, I zipped over to Lincoln Park on my final morning in Chicago to see the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pond. I caught the tail end of summer, I can only imagine what this place looks like in full bloom. And then with the 15 minutes I had left before I had to jump on a zoom call, I power walked through the Lincoln Park Conservatory, and just happened to be there while one of their horticulturalists was pruning their Giant Water Lily and showing the sharp spikes and air pockets to a group of preschoolers (swipe til the end to see that!) So much fun - I gotta go back and see the other Botanical Gardens and green spaces in Chicago ASAP. taken in Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool by @lambtime

It only took about four months of planning, but we did it! the final part of my 2026 ASLA Conference experience was co-leading a tour of Queer and Minority Displacement and Joy in Downtown Los Angeles, a place where I grew up and became who I am today. We walked 3 miles from the Convention Center to Union Station, sharing stories of the layered, complex history of our beautiful multi-cultural city. I have to thank so many people for making this possible, including my co-leaders Mark Reid @baccharisdude and Zoe Detweiler @grrrlzoe , our incredible guest speakers James Rojas and Alexis (Lexi) Bard Johnson @onearchivesusc , and Sam Dent @yushengdent who started this tradition of queer walking tours at the ASLA conference five years ago with @pridexasla , and finally to American Society of Landscape Architects @nationalasla and ASLA Southern California @socalasla for organizing this conference. I am exhausted, but also inspired by everything I learned along the way and the people I met today. 🌈 by @lambtime

that wraps up my first @americanpublicgardens conference! what an incredible experience, loved meeting so many incredible talented plant people. felt very fortunate to see the new areas of @filoliestate, and tours of @ruthbancroftgardennursery @ucbgarden and @rpbotgarden with Brian Kemble, Andrew Donan and Bart O'Brien. coming home with a few special plants for my collection - and hope to be back next year! by @lambtime
