I need to stop playing small. I don't make a lot of noise about what I do or what I've done, but sometimes I don't know how much of it is shyness and how much of it is Impostor Syndrome. Take this fab picture for example. I love it. @KolaOshalusi took it. It's stunning. But I felt 'a kinda way' about posting it. And I don't even know why!

But nowadays, when it seems like the loudest people get the opportunities you think you deserve (and maybe you don't, but that's another angle 😂), it can be hard to figure out how much "noise" you need to make so that you are at least a player in the game. Especially as a woman. In almost every field. You have to lean in, you have to make yourself heard, and I know the God I love doesn't even want me to be or feel "less than," because after all, we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. We are royalty. So I haven't figured it out yet, but I think it's something we should intentionally decide: to equip ourselves for opportunities, to say yes to things and figure out the how later (not for everything o, biko apply wisdom, 😂), to be bold in whatever space we occupy and be excellent in all aspects because then, even when our voices aren't the loudest, our work, our efforts, our results, speak for us. Please share your thoughts on this, especially ladies. If it's something you've struggled with, how do you deal? If you haven't, I salute - please share how you do it!

#TBT to Young(er) #LamideWorks! Who remembers the baby journo days 😂? Saw this while clearing out my phone and posted a clip in my stories, and was summarily threatened to post on my feed so here we are!

It's been an interesting journey in the journo/media space. A good reminder to self that I'm not new to this, I'm actually a bad ass at this thing and the receipts are plenty! 😂 Also, document your journeys, friends. It's never a waste!

From 2011, anchoring presidential election coverage at TVC to filming a documentary on Rwanda 20 years post genocide and hosting a panel with (then candidate) president Buhari for Ebonylife TV - So many more things before, in between, and after. I look forward to looking back in another few years. It's been quite a ride!

A little practical Tuesday Tip from someone who’s spent a lot of time conducting interviews and yapping on different stages.

A simple way to approach this is to think in threes. What are the things you want people to take from your speech or interview? Drill it down and then make sure whatever you’re saying, you’re not straying too far from those takeaways.

More than 15 years in the Media space and there’s more than one way to encapsulate all I do. So instead, I’ll tell you what I’d like to do more of:
- Craft and steer conversations that leave you (and me) a little smarter. And I want to do that in and outside Nigeria and Africa.

- Share the stories, learnings, tips and tricks of a good interview(er/ee)
-Learn from and with the previous and next generation of storytellers - with documentaries and more.

- Find stories that matter and help to shine a light on them
- Amplify people doing important work and help them take center stage.

Today for the #cometothefrontchallenge we are bringing to the front someone (or people) we admire, or someone who taught us something. I have many but for this I’m selecting these amazing ladies. All true originals!

First, the astonishing and brilliant @hayet.rida who expresses herself through many things, including @theaiyaresidence and @shopkhoi. I admire Hayet’s grit, her mind, her dedication to being the best version of herself that life allows her to be at any given moment and her sheer determination to live life as she sees fit. She is a doer and however she does it, I’m admiring and cheering her on. And of course I’m a #KhoiBabe through and through!

Next is @isabellaadediji - such a joyful spirit. I admire the way she has so many expressions of herself and is gung-ho and intentional about them ALL. Her passion is infectious and it is such a wonderful thing to see someone who forges ahead with delight and excellence! Alaga, Chef, Producer, Creative…you sef do am if e easy!!

Then there’s THE @mojibadeshow - I enjoy watching her shine. Another beautiful spirit. We’ve never worked together but I hope to in the future. There’s much to learn from her and how she’s occupied the spaces she enters, and how she has carved out a lane all her own. I think there’s something wonderful about people like Mojibade - who have a gift AND make sure they WORK at that gift.

I’m cheating a little bit but it’s @theyoungempress ‘ birthday and the influence she has had in my life cannot be ignored. I learn so much from her. She’s already coming to the front herself, but let me tell you that she is the BADDEST Strengthsfinder coach around. It’s my life’s honor to be her little Sis. Special shoutout to the mama bear because she has epic daughters 😂.

I’m working on a Masterplan!! 😂 Calls, meetings, emails, scheduling and trying to remember to hydrate!
TBH this is what many days can look like when you’re in production - You can’t skip the “boring” bits to get to the good ones. We build a solid base before adding the fun stuff! That’s all I got for y’all today 😂
