Varkala, India, 2006!!

Nothing compares to surfing in the Fathers Land… Peeps were trippin on long haired BrothersMenen frolicking in the surf!!
Ultra fun, peaky beach breaks with no other surfers around. Half the time lifeguards didn’t want us in the water cause they were afraid we didn’t know what we were doing and didn’t want to have to try and save us.
We went out anyways.
Surfing to the sounds of lifeguard whistles and waving arms trying to get us to come in…
Don’t lose your board or the sessions over!!

Appreciation/ Dedication to the peoples and places that have helped keep the dream alive!!

Daredevil @darren.gertler and Nan&Stan for getting the ball rolling summer of 2004. Sponsored all three blanks, glass, resin, and basic glassing & shaping tools to build our first batch of boards start to finish in trade for some work around the house…the hook was set, deep!!

Brad Basham RIP : Brad had a way of making you feel part of the culture. Accepted. Always had the time to rap a bit and share his vast knowledge…the kindest of wizards! @bashamsfactorysurfshop for making the materials accessible throughout the years and being the glue that hold a lot of this section of the industry together.

Ben Aipa RIP: This Stings for you!! I’ve always been inspired by how serious he took his craft. How well he surfed and how he shared knowledge and coached surfers to be good humans in and outta the water. His shaping video by @fiberglasshawaii changed the process in which I went about my shapes and @kazumasurfboardshawaii furthered my understanding of some of his fundamental shaping processes like milling/ planing your blank, and the importance of rocker & foil.

Huge props to brother @bajaspots for opening his property to us and the dream team of Uncle Antonio, UncleFreestyle @spielmanchris , Brother @thesurfsquatch , & Vincente @surfo_mx58 for all your hands making the dream of having a facility to glass and sand boards a reality!!

This board feels amazing under the arm and under your feet…brought back all the original wonder in design/ construction with it being my first proper sting, paired with the Twinser set-up which I haven’t done in years (huge shout out to Marlin @101fins for help with placement and all his shared knowledge of the craft), stringerless/ light glassing (double top/ single bottom) all 4oz S-Cloth (@ospreysurfboards !!)…I think I’ll name her Sparky!!

Taking her home!!
Been a long time since I stayed up and shaped all night and deep into the morning…
Found the groove and stayed in it till the end!!
Time of birth 3:16am!!
Uncle Freestyle @spielmanchris showed up 2am and stoked the fire to finish her off.

Big appreciation to all that have supported me in the art and craft of board building.
Now on to color and glass!!
