After months away from the stage, Egameni returns.
The silence is over. The memories remain. The questions are still waiting to be answered.
We’re stepping back into the rehearsal room, rebuilding the rhythm, reconnecting with the characters, and preparing to bring this story to life once again.
A mother. A son. A love tested by tradition, memory, and consequence.
The journey continues.

Returning to theatre feels like returning home.

Through the Zabalaza Theatre Festival, I present “EGAMENI”a work I have written and directed as part of my re-entry into live performance space.

Synopsis:

Egameni is an intimate, emotionally charged two-hander exploring the deep and complex bond between a single mother and her son.

Rooted in the cultural soil of the Eastern Cape, the production unpacks the rites of passage that define identity — a boy becoming a man, and a girl becoming a woman and the often-overlooked parallels between the two.

Restriction:14+
Venue: Masambe Theatre/Flipside Theatre

Performances: Saturday 14 March 10:00 | Monday 16 March 19:00 | Monday 16 March 13:00 (FLIPSIDE) Tuesday 17 March 16:00 | Wednesday 18 March 11:30 | Thursday 19 March 10:00 & 16:00 | Friday 20 March 11:30
